Oh! Oh! Oh! Didja See It? Didja?
Scientists have found another Ice Age body. It's in Alaska. A child. But, that's not the only important thing.

Whether they meant to or not, the scientists let slip some exceedingly important information - important for those who believe that man-made global warming is a sad, sick joke. Look at this map.

To the best of my knowledge, it is as accurate a guess as science can give us at this time.

You will notice that the extent of the ice cap in Ancient Canada is divided, and that it did NOT extend into what later would be called Alaska and western Russia. According to the Global Warming experts, the cap was evenly spread as it often is today. So, the question presents itself, "Why wasn't it back then?"

The answer is the same one all good scientists would say - nobody knows. Just so, nobody knows why it was ten degrees warmer, worldwide, during the time of the Grecian Theatre's Golden Age - 5th Century BCE - just as nobody knows why the Little Ice Age happened.

There are boatloads of guesses, and many of them are good guesses. But, still, they are guesses.

Right now, you are paying more than you can afford to get to work in your gasoline-powered vehicle. And you are paying this much because there are really bad guessers who are running things from a government which has, little by little, stolen your freedom and given you fantasy in its place.

Logic and facts tells us that man-made global warming is a bad guess, that sunshine and the pitch of the earth's angle and cycles inside of cycles are better guesses, as to why global climate changes.

But, "Those Men in the Whitehouse," as my grandfather would have called both 43 and 44, have either caused, or allowed to happen, the material weakening of America due to fear of those who believe in a fantasy they call "proven science."

Some FACTS: the second most plentiful liquid on Earth is Crude Oil; the electric car is still mostly unaffordable by folks like me; the basic convenience of gasoline-powered cars can't be beaten by anything, yet, and probably will not be for at least two-years, maybe never; because of "progressive" thinking, drilling for oil in America has virtually ceased; we could convert to natural or LP gas, right now, with no loss of power to our vehicles; and the confused offering of the current administration for an energy plan, offers no real solutions.

It's time to take control of the situation. It's time to retire every progressive in this state and this country. This fuel shortage is only a small example of their destructive hubris. But you have power. Vote and speak out and go to public meetings, and get responsible. Now is the time.

A swift apology..
As you may have guessed, I've been preoccupied with my real jobs. Cutting commercials and pedagogy give me enough money to pay the rent. Frankie is unhappy about it, but he'll just have to "suck it up."

Here's a summary of what I could have written:

Today - gas prices fluctuate at unaffordable levels - told you so.

Yesterday - White House flounders on foreign affairs changes - told you so

Day before yesterday - White House breaks several federal laws by injecting its private thugs into the Wisconsin effort to return right-to-work to the state - told you so.

Get a pencil.. Wright this down..
It's been three years since I warned you about relying on Obama for any economic success. Now, we have real Jimmy Carter stagflation - gas rationing too.

Nothing to Laugh At..
At least, nothing conservative. I used to enjoy a comedy ensemble which aired on the old IFC. That's the Independent Film Channel. The comedy was outrageous and salty and sometimes icky. The Whitest Kids U Know (not even a little bit racist, despite the odd name) had truly funny skits. Their humor is, amazingly, even handed, making fun of everyone, like a group of young Aristophaneses (Aristophanou?)

But when NBC decided they could make more money NOT showing indie films and filling the channel with commercials, they had to temper the boys. It was death for the kind of comedy these guys turned out. What episodes they had, were severely censored, killing the true depth of the symbolism and irony. Go to YOUTUBE.com and enter "WKUK - The real reason why Lincoln was assassinated". See what you get. You won't even see THAT one on the cable channel.

Yes, it's randy. Yes, it's offensive to people who don't like dirty words. But to those of us who have steel personalities, it's truly funny AND instructive.

By the way, the new format is failing, horribly. They've even resorted to telling complaining people to go to their website to get the uncensored stuff. Those of us who don't care for liars, will be cheered by the fact that our faith in the poor business sense of NBC has been reaffirmed. But in the lurch, a great, humorous, ironical, and thoroughly enjoyable comedy troupe has been muzzelled. Aristophanes gives way to Menander. Good Grief!

One other thing..
Columbia is considering having trolleys.. again..

Friends, Columbians, Citizens, lend me your ears.. COLUMBIA IS NOT GREENVILLE. COLUMBIA IS NOT CHARLESTON.

Columbia's climate is one step from HELL. It is a sandpile and mosquito trap peopled by public servants who don't have a clue where their salaries come from, and poverty pimps and lawyers who do. NOBODY wants to ride a trolley in 88° heat and 80% relative humidity - It's a stupid idea which has failed three times since 1950.

Oh, there are many good people who work there, but most of them don't live IN town. Who can blame them?

Living Through Economic Prophecy
Romulus Augustulus - the last western Imperator, blood related to any Ceasar - was replaced by Odoacer the Vandal because the people of Rome was disgusted with him for cheapening the the coinage - he put lots of brass in the gold coins and tin in the silver. Odoacer, on ascending to the curial chair, withdrew all the gold, had it purified, recast, and given back to those who had had possession, originally. By purifying the coinage, Odoacer became, in effect, a better emperor than the Roman of purest blood.

An important lesson for America.

War Is All Heck!
Argentina, which lately seems a lot more like a clone of Venezuela than a friend of America,
has illegally seized American military equipment. Are we going to war? Are we throwing up a blockade around Argentina? Are we boycotting Argentina? Are we doing any more than flapping our toothless gums in protest? Nope.

Welcome to the Obama future.

This is the future in which we no longer operate from strength - demanding compliance - but, rather, we beg for understanding, instead. "What's a few million dollars worth of optics and construction equipment compared with the chance we might actually have to ACT on our threats?" Sec. Clinton intimates.

Have we really become pre-WWII England? May be.

In earlier times, we'd have declared war. Argentina's actions are, after all, an act of international piracy.

This administration is an embarrassment.

Amateur Standing
Does anybody feel that Barack Obama showed a deep amateurishness, this past week. The only thing he didn't do was proclaim himself the head of the Egyptian revolution. Not only were his declamations juvenile and specious, but also they reminded anyone who bothered to listen to them of the school playground bully, trying to out-impress some poor victim. I just hope he hasn't destroyed Amemerica's chances for friendship with whoever finally rules in EGYPT.

Caution - Roadblock Ahead
Look, I hate to be so negative all the time, but since 2006, there have been so many things that have been so wrong. And, it's not as if we haven't had due warning.

Every week, sometimes every day, another warning comes true. What is so predictable, and yet, so alarming, is the denial of the ones guilty of the commission of error. We warned about Rep. Barney Frank and Sen. Dick Durbin and their abuse of a once noble FNMA. We warned about the immediate cost of too high gas prices and their effect on thousands of mortgages. We warned about a consequence to the stock market. And SwampfoxNews.com wasn't the only news group making these warnings.

Now we're warning about runaway "stagflation." The way I see it, we cannot avoid it. It's already beginning to happen. If we use the method of increasing interest rates, we will have the double dip recession everyone fears. If we do nothing and don't cut government spending in a dramatic way, we could have disastrous stagnation plus the current inflation.

The cure seems simple, but which leader, other than Sen. Jim Demint and a precious few others, will have the courage to act, so that public spending stops? Most of America, at least the Unionized part, are cowards, pretending that America has enough wealth to help keep THEM from sacrifices. And let's face it - when every Progressive lies to us about the affordability of our current path - many have come to believe in the dangerous fairy tale.

Who WANTS to suffer? I know I don't. But I also know that if we all suffer a little, now, we may not have to suffer a lot, later.

SC Ports Need a Starboard Tack
There are a lot of people in this State who don't like the Ports Authority. I've never been one of them. They have brought success to South Carolina when other government affiliated groups have failed miserably. They spend money only when they have to. They bare a great tradition we should be proud of.

There is another tradition in South Carolina - sucking as much money off the federal government as possible to make up for the billions that were destroyed or stolen, following the "late unpleasantness."

It's time for us to make an important decision. Are we going to be Americans or are we going to continue in our "plantation-master's revenge" mentality? The sons and daughters of slaves would like us to continue in the old ways - there's more money for them if we do. And to be real Americans again, we'd have to stop earmarks and all the money people think is free, but really comes from other states.

See, it's a matter of honor. As long as we admit what we're doing, we can continue on, stealing from the rest of the country. Or, we can give that up and stop living beyond our means.

I want to be an American. I don't want to steal money from other states. I want South Carolina to live within its means - even if it does mean we have to ignore the whines of Cobb-Hunter and Jim Clyburn.

The point of all this is that if we want to enlarge the harbor at Charleston, WE should pay for it. We're the ones who will be the major beneficiaries. And I also believe that the people on the Ports Authority Board are smart enough to think of a way to raise the revenue to make it happen.

A President for Everyone
The only reason that I'm writing this is that the "accepted" view of the Reagan years is, in part, a fabrication. It's the part about how Reagan cut taxes and left a deficit.

"Dutch"

The actual truth is simple - the tax cuts caused a huge increase of federal tax revenue. And for every dollar extra that came into the coffers, the Progressive House and Senate spent two.

Reagan managed to downsize the government, but he had to give way to the Progs on social programs, hoping that the onerous legislation would sundown. Of course, under Bush I and Clinton, those programs were made permanent.

Reagan wasn't perfect, but he was dang close. His ideals should be understood in their proper light.

Sick & Tired.
So, I got a flu shot about a month ago. Now, I have flu. According to those in the know, I shouldn't have it.

This has become a real teaching moment for me. My trust in the government is now, about where it was back in the late sixties after LBJ's failure at the "War on Poverty" and the stupid running of the Vietnam War. It wouldn't get any lower with Nixon or Jimmuh Cahtuh.

Is there ANYTHING this administration can do right?

Curiouser and curiouser.
Thanks to a judge who still believes in the Constitution, we may yet be free of the onerous Health Care Bill. But, as they say, don't count your chickens, yet. There is still some territory between here and there.

First of all, there will be the the PR hailstorm. The media which believe it is their moral duty to wipe every conservative and libertarian off the face of the earth, will join in with dire warnings about babies dying and mothers being dragged out into the streets, evicted from their homes because they cannot pay their medical bills. They will make it seem universal.

Then, some useless idiot will try to do something to someone because they're not liberal enough. Maybe they'll succeed. And somehow, somehow the liberals will blame everyone except themselves. And the PR push will be back.

Each step along the judicial way, those who revere the Constitution as an instrument which keeps government off the backs of the producers will be vilified by the usual suspects.

That's the bad news. The good news is that there are at least two good Federal Appeals Courts and maybe enough Supreme Court Justices with a spine. We may just make it.

But on behalf of those who care, we still have to solve the problem of affordable health care, while maintaining a fair system of redress for bad medicine. It's actually easier than throwing money at the problem, and many ideas have been proffered. So, keep a stiff upper lip and a steel spine.
