(The Swamp) --

November 29, 2010
Hissy Fits and Panic. Apparently, Progressives want to cause the United States to be bombed in the next four years. No-one with even a little sense thinks the current START treaty, with its enforceable preamble, will do anything but piss off the Russians when we start building out Fourth Generation missile defense. The preamble says they can back out. And what do the Progressives want to do? Pass the thing anyway.

Better still, change the verification portion of the Russian part of the treaty AND remove the cop-out clause in the preamble. THEN, it will be a treaty worth signing.

Did Coach Smile? It may have just been my imagination, but I could have sworn I saw The Old Ball Coach smile after Spencer Lanning punted the ball into Clemson's coffin corner.

Don't Fret, Tigers. Don't be too hard on Dabo. Considering the player losses last year, Dabo worked a miracle of six wins with what was left. Give him some of HIS recruits AND some experience for them, and then start griping..

Usually, after a Carolina-Clemson game, there's a lot of complaining about the referees. Not this year. No, the screwup was ESPN. Thanks to their unclear directions most of us watched the end of the NC State-Maryland game. And then, "whoops," we're back at the right game. You almost got the feeling that ESPN didn't care about the third oldest rivalry in sports!

Enough Sour Puss! Gamecocks win. Now, on to Atlanta!

November 27, 2010
One of the Great Ironies of Life. Perhaps it is intended by the fates that the best monograph on the passing of the great voices of Carolina and Clemson Radio is not written by anyone from the Midlands.
If you want to read a great piece of writing, read this excellent article by Tim Bourret on the Clemson Football blog.

A Real Thanksgiving Present. The Ultracapacitor, which everybody from Clemson to MIT said was impossible has now been created and peer reviewed. Here's an artist's depiction:

It has about the same discharge capability as a Nickle Metal Hydride (NiMH) battery. But instead of equal time to charge as to run, it will take maybe 15 to 20 SECONDS to charge! Read the abstract here. It's really, really, real.

Arrest That Old Man! Nowadays, you can't say 'ya wanna kill th' umpire!' OK, he said he wanted to kill the president, but he was off his meds and very old. Besides, the Spartanburg resident said Obama wasn't doing enough to help African- Americans. He should have realized that loyal Americans don't say such things - make that "loyal Conservative Americans" - when a Liberal boob wrote a play about Killing George Bush, the liberals sniggered, Bush didn't care, and there was no arrest. Now an old man, off his meds, in a place where he could NEVER get at Mr. Personality, is arrested by a Secret Service junior woodchuck. Talk about a misuse of power..

Thanksgiving, 2010

Don't Fly - Skype!

November 22, 2010
Carolina @ Clemson - 7:00pm - ESPN2. Nuff Said.

I know I've been bad this year, Santa - but, PLEASE, let Carolina play Boise State in a BCS Bowl, this year.. please? If we were to beat them, it would say so much about the worthlessness of the BCS.

Not During Christmas. $12.8 Billion. That's the price to keep paying expiring unemployment benefits. I am one of the first people who would say, "enough is enough," but I have precedent for also saying we should extend the benefits through the middle of February: Scrooge.

Yes, the Churches and Synagogues and Temples and Mosques and Atheist Societies should be the font of ALL charity. They should be, but the GOVERNMENT has taken so much money out of the society through taxation and causing inflation, that many people cannot give as they have in the past.

Yes, Unemployment offices around the country are fat and inefficient.

Yes, extension of unemployment sends the wrong message, encouraging people who are out of work NOT TO WORK.

There is no doubt - our world is not as we would have it be.

Nevertheless, it IS Christmas. The Christian thing to do is to GIVE those hapless folks one more reprieve. Not Loan.. GIVE.

But we do not have to be stupid about this. Scrooge did not become penniless by his generosity (as we have become.) We pledge that we will end, forever, a corresponding $12.8 Billion in public housing and welfare, later in the year. At the same time, we should coordinate with religious folk to again take up this burden, as eventually the GOVERNMENT gives up its unrighteous control, while generous people return to one of their original purposes.

But that's February. Right now, it's Christmas.

Thank You Mr. Obama! You, and your hand-puppet, Eric Holder, have once again screwed with the primal forces of nature and come up wanting. This vomitous excrement, who murdered Americans and nationals in foreign countries should already be dead. Instead, he'll get 20 years, watching cable and helping plan more murders. Why? Because he should have been tried in a MILITARY COURT. He is a POW and whatever can be done to him has not been, now, thanks to you.

A Really Bad Buy. If you are a small investor and you're thinking of buying the GM IPO, do something else. Burning your money will have more of a salutary effect than buying that stock.

The reason is really simple: Large organizations are being bullied by the Obama administration into buying huge amounts of the IPO (Initial Public Offering) in order to make it look as if it is a success. And even though reputable Wall Street firms will sell you a round lot or two, don't take the bait. The people who buy this thing are destined to lose their investment. GM is a Big Labor nightmare and the company will, eventually declare the bankruptcy it really has been in for almost three years.

Once it hits the actual market, you can short sell it or buy puts. You might make money that way.

Motor Trend Magazine On Sale! Yes, MT has always been for sale - especially when it comes to "Car of the Year." And when you listen to the drooling announcer talk about the 2011 Chevy Volt award, you realize that politics and greed have made the complete connection.

Make no mistake, I desperately want to see the new technology bring forth a real, living electric car that most people can afford - the Tesla is not, but it is, at least, a real electric car. But the Chevy Volt with blinding idiocy, is a complete failure. An electric Volt it is not. A new kind of hybrid, sure, but not an electric car. The cost is ridiculous, $40Gs. I could buy a Daimler Benz Smart Car

for half that and get more mileage with the same safety rating.

Sooo.. yeah.. throwin' away my MT mag.. yeah..

DANGIT!   Take a good look at the picture.

This story appears ONLY in the Daily Mail Online .

"Target," a shepherd mix, survived Afghanistan, took flak and saved soldiers' lives. Target got mixed-up and got lost. A neighbor, not recognizing the dog, turned it over to the pound. Some stupid bastard who wasn't paying attention killed her yesterday morning, in California. According to the report, "County officials say the employee mistakenly took the dog out of its pen Monday morning and euthanized it." They added that he wasn't following their protocol.

What difference does it make if he was or wasn't? It's just another screwup at another government agency that caused something or someone to die. When do we say, "ENOUGH"? When do we tell the do-gooders that they've "done bad?"

Maybe I wouldn't care if I hadn't seen the movie, Nell, last night. Talk about do-gooders killing freedom! Don't get your dog a chip! Defund your city's budget!

I'm sure, by now, you've seen this still from the CNN story of the Great American Pat-Down at our airports.

Frankly, I think this ironic photograph is symbolic of the success of the Obama administration in trivializing federal protection from Islamic Terrorism. They're stupid. Their ideas are stupid. And their results always work against their own purpose. Yep. That's the best we're gonna get from the Amateur in Chief.

But there is a simple way to keep from getting "porned" or groped: DON'T FLY. Simple as that. Just don't fly to Grandma's or Auntie Laqueetha's. Get in your car, grit your teeth, and just buck the traffic. The cost may actually be less, even with the higher gas rates, and the result will be much less aggravating.

There is another benefit, especially if your mother-in-law can't cook. If you visit via skype, as many people are doing, this year, you get to see her without the pain of the desert-dry over-under-cooked turkey.

If you want to do more you can go to Neal Boortz's website and commiserate with him.

This is for all those redneck morons who're always talking about how bad Steve Spurrier is: SHUT UP! Saturday, The Old Ball Coach and the team he recruited and trained did exactly what he was hired to do - WON THE S.E.C. Eastern Championship.

They didn't squeak by Florida. They didn't fluke their way to a slight win. THEY RAN OVER THE GATORS AND LEFT THEM BLACK AND BLUE, BOOING AND HUMBLED!

The defense was awesome. The offensive line was brilliant. Even the center "did good," except for that one pooch when Garcia had to fall on the ball. Garcia wasn't flawless, but he's beginning to think like a Spurrier QB. Kudos to Jeffrey and Gurley. Moore did some yeoman's work, himself. And Lansing's foot was a blessing.

Lattimore. Yeah, buddy! As the announcer said, "You cannot kill what you cannot catch."

When you do what you're hired to do, you've done your job. Period. 'Nuff said.

November 13, 2010 The State Newspaper is a good newspaper with some really wacky online readers. Several of them (which is rather suspicious by itself) wrote almost the exact same thing in response to a neutral story about who will make up Governor-Elect Haley's transistion team, a non-governmental group - including her husband and this blog's good friend, Henry McMaster - which goes out of business the day she is sworn in. They must be paid, if paid at all (many do not receive payment) with non-tax money.

"Is this not nepotism?

According to SC HR Regulations. '19-701.06 ETHICS ACT
The Ethics Act governs the employment of family members and conflicts of interest. For additional information consult the Ethics Act (§ 8-13-100 through ? 8-13-1520 of the South Carolina Code of Laws), the Ethics Commission opinions, and the State Ethics Commission. (S.C. Code Ann. § 8-13-100 to 8-13-1520)

Employment of Family Members

No public official, public member, or public employee may cause the employment, appointment, promotion, reassignment, transfer, or advancement of a family member to a State or local office or position in which the public official, public member, or public employee supervises or manages. (S.C. Code Ann. § 8-13-750) Family member means an individual who is (a) the spouse, parent, brother, sister, child, mother-in-law, father-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, grandparent, or grandchild (S.C. Code Ann. § 8-13-1300), or (b) a member of the individual's immediate family. Immediate family is defined as follows:

A child residing in a candidate's, public official's, public member's, or public employee's household;

A spouse of a candidate, public official, public member, or public employee; or

An individual claimed by the candidate, public official, public member, or public employee or the candidate's, public official's, or public employee's spouse as a dependent for income tax purposes.

(S.C. Code Ann. § 8-13-1300)

Conflict of Interest
No employee may accept any work or compensation that could be reasonably construed as a conflict of interest. Acceptance without proper prior approval of work assignment or compensation that is found to be a conflict of interest may be grounds for disciplinary action or termination. The propriety of an employment situation or compensation for services rendered shall be considered by all parties concerned. Counsel from the Office of the Attorney General or the State Ethics Commission may be necessary to make such determinations.'"

Why would anybody quote a piece of legislation which disproves, so eloquently, the very things of which they are accusing? Did these people share this information which, apparently, no-one bothered to read? Or, were they sent the information by some helpful person - some powerful, helpful person - some powerful, helpful person, who has been embittered by his or her loss of influence in the recent elections, and dedicated himself to Ms. Haley's undoing.. perhaps?

One thing we know for sure: this kind of "coincidence" generally isn't. Judging by the election map, Columbia can be counted on for a continued barrage of untruthful accusations by people who have a reading deficiency - obviously Richland District One graduates.

November 12, 2010 Do you believe the Dept of Def? Not the current group of clowns, I don't. Especially when they say things such as, "There is no need to worry." Actually, NOW may just be the time to worry.

We are just learning that the ChiComs have a new submarine that we can't detect under certain conditions. The screws on the boat are designed for an amazing quietness under half power - so there is almost no "cavitation." Is that what launched the missile that made the missile contrail off California, the other day? A message from our "good friends" in the east?

Happy Veterans' Day & Thanks!

Today is the 60th Anniversary of my first appearance on the stage. I played a kid. Gilean Duncan was the story teller. The play was Snow White & the Seven Dwarves. It was directed by the remarkable Mary Lou Kramer, who's training, along with Mom's and Dr. Marianne Holland's, enabled me to win South Carolina Musician of The Year in 1963.

I've seen a lot of South Carolina theatre since then, and, frankly, some of it's pretty good. Except for the stuff that calls itself "Children's Theatre." As Mary Lou used to say, "Children's Theatre should be FOR children, not BY children." Her productions were magical. They employed the rare child actor, talented teenagers, and young adults.

This is not to say that children's workshops and learning centers are not a good thing - Rich Robinson, at USC Upstate, has one of the best children's drama learning programs in the Southeast. But a learning program and a bunch of kids masquerading as Children's Theatre are two entirely different things. For instance, I would not attempt any real internal acting techniques until a child has mastered his or her Eriksonian Personality Identity vs. Identity Confusion stage.

Why should you care? Because so-called "Drama" teachers can do more to damage to your child than a real theatre instructor. And, trust me, there IS a huge psychological differential between the two - a very destructive psychological differential that may not show up until years later. There are very few Mary Lou Kramers in the world. Remember that the next time you consider "acting lessons" for your child.

Saw the news about the mystery missile. Downloaded the raw video. Also downloaded some video of a Russian Sub-Missile launch. The mystery trail is remarkably similar to the Russian launch. One thing it definitely is NOT is an airplane contrail. Sorry Michio. Some day I'll bore you with my story of why I don't completely trust the dude.

November 9, 2010
Was it just me, or did Bush look more Presidential in his interview with Hannity than Obama did in front of a bunch of Indonesian parliamentarians? Oh, and did you see yet another bow?

WSJ doesn't like the Fair Tax. Stands to reason - Feds and Big banks can't control the money as well. Socialism the answer? Nope. Just no Federal Reserve. We can still print lotsa phony money without them. No, we DEFINITELY NEED THE FAIR TAX. I'm just sayin'.

November 8, 2010
The Wall Street Journal Says It All: The US will have to borrow $4.2Trillion in 2011, in order for our country to stay afloat, financially. That's almost half of all the money being borrowed in the entire world ($10.2T). And what do we do, borrow it from each other, shall we? Or will we sell bonds to ourselves, like the Japanese, swallowing our country's debt and prolonging their slow growth. Or, do we look to Pennsylvania Avenue for more broken promises from a broken administration? One thing we better do is add to our military.

This is not good news, unless you consider more proof - that the Current Resident of the Whitehouse is a complete incompetent - good news.

November 7, 2010
Has the economic tipping point occurred? The average price of Silver has jumped to $26.50+ - a price which is currently holding. Oil is back up to $87 per barrel. The price of cotton has doubled. Groceries are up 25%. The "crazies" - people who relate everything to everything - are forecasting a huge fall in all paper currencies around the world. Some psychologists are suggesting that we have grossly misunderstood how humans interact and that this misunderstanding fortells dark things for the planet. Now, Obama and his closest staff and friends have left the country, along with the 28 warships, basically leaving the White House effectively empty. Some are even saying that WWIII has come and gone and we lost - our buildings just haven't been bombed.

So, has the economic tipping point occurred? No. Not yet. As long as physics is pretty much what we think it is, we still kind of like each other, and we continue maintianing the biggest fist on the planet, that point has not yet arrived.

But..

It WILL happen as long as you have entire states such as California with a majority of voters who do not think, do not work, and do not care. Unless you've been in a cave, you know that California is doomed. New York is next, then Chicago, Cincinatti, and Detroit. What happens if they do go under? Do we see mass migrations of Yankees away from their former industrial centers?

This really is new territory. From here on out, those who have received benefits from the common purse, except those who have actually put IN to the system, will have to be cut off, with very rare exceptions. Everyone who actually CAN work, will have to, or leave, and our ideas of priorities will have to be reworked.

There is one other thing, too; Many of these projections could become self-fulfilling prophecies. That is, they will spook people into stampeding into a future which will cause the very things they are afraid of. If that were to happen, then all bets are off, and there is no next stop. But we are not there, yet, if we stop our profligacy, now.

The Year of the Jackpot - There is a Science Fiction short story by literary giant, Robert A. Heinlein, with the same name. You can get an abstract of the read at wikipedia. The idea is contained in the quote from the hero, who is a statistician, "This year, the human race is letting down its hair, flipping its lip with a finger, and saying 'Wubba, wubba, wubba.'" At the end of the story, the sun begins to burn out, at sunset.

According to Cliff High, a real sociological statistician, the sun isn't going out, but some really big things are going to happen between now and the middle of January. This is the same guy who is touted to have predicted 9/11. His statistical model, which creates phrases in English about possible future occurrences, has predicted some very frightening things. The problem is that there is a cunundrum - is the model nothing more than apparent interpretation like fibonacci numbers, or the golden mean, which is, eventually, a waste of time, or is there really something in the numbers? That's not to say that something isn't going to happen. Remember that half the population of the known world believes something awful is going to happen on Dec 21, 2012. And there is such a thing as self-fulfilling prophecy.

November 6, 2010
Some college economists snickered at me when I warned of stagflation before Obama's election. So, Obama gets elected, and he does his Keynesian hat trick, and the dollar drops, and now.. Now the price of gas creeps up. The price of food grows a little, at first, and now 25% in the last year. Random costs go up - like the price of cotton doubling. Real unemployment is close to 17%. Things are getting dark up north.

Back in 1842, Yankee big businesses went bust and they got their version of a bailout. Money that the South was taxed for in order to recuperate. It was the fundamental cause of the war Between the States. it's happening, again.

As the South continues to recover in spite of this profligate administration, our Northern brethren are suffering. Even Dr. Phil, of Oprah fame, says that when he interviewed the homeless in Northern cities, they told him that they were afraid of being replaced by middle class homeless people. Imagine! Are we going to have to pay for them, yet again?

Northern cities are, for the most part, run by little Progressive tyrants who have overspent for decades, always shoving forward the final expense. Well, the bill is due and they are broke. Their bonds will become worthless and their word will be equally worthless. Unless.. unless WE pick up their tab. And, THAT's not going to happen. Be ready for all kinds of invective to be hurled at us and all conservatives, as we force them to face their travesties.

BTW, there are 28 ships, on their way to Mumbai, including warrior cruisers (we don't do battleships anymore) not the reported 34, but that's close enough. And it's $2,600,000 a day - not counting gifts and "special purchases" and "extras" - for him and his entourage of 3,000, not $200,000,000 a day. But that will add up to about $30,000,000 by the time they leave the mysterious East. In Obama money, that's not a lot. In you and me money, though, that's almost 1% of our State budget.

And then there's this.. A store owner who was up to here with the BS from the Current Occupant of the Whitehouse, especially his election eve speech to his homeys saying Republicans could "sit in the back," because he had the keys and he wasn't giving them up. As it turns out, the guy put a sign up, after the election, in front of his store, asking a question, the answer to which querried who, now, would sit where. Naturally some "activists" took the opportunity to take umbrage. That, in itself, is nothing new, except to note the protestor had definitely been taking umbrage since, at least, the early 80's.

What was breath-taking was, we are told, that Spartanburg's WSPA-TV-7 did not know that Obama had made the statement. So, our source says, they did a big story about "What did the sign mean?" And they were serious. This is what happens when a news department gets that much out of the loop. Then, again, maybe their ignorance was caused by their affiliation with CBS. Hard to say.

November 5, 2010
Gas prices have jumped up 16 cents. You can thank Obama and Geithner. They monetized another $600,000,000,000 while you were celebrating the election. We really are setting ourselves up for a Greek Tragedy. As our dollar reduces in buying power, the cost of foreign oil spirals up. We can't afford to drive to work or we can't afford our houses (again), which will put more downward pressure on Fannie and Freddie (again). Listen.. is that the sound of thempty public purse being filled with more IOUs?

More private hires. Most economists, who aren't sucked into the Administration's dream world, think that big businesses believe that Obama's crazy economic putsch can be stunted, and acted that way in October. They also say that, should Obamacare actually see the light of day, a lot of these hires will be fires.

Even with that, jobless rate is still 9.6% and that means the real unemployment rate is close to 16.7%. It also means that we need a much more realistic way to determine who is and is not employed.

You'll hear stats today about who's polling was and wasn't accurate and they'll say Fox and Rasmussen we'ren't. Remember that a lot of these Progressive "wins" are the result of "lagging," explained below. Their polls WERE accurate - they just didn't take into account the proliferation of Progressive cheating. Doubt me? Open the books and let me examine them.

November 4, 2010
Guess you saw the news.. The Obama admin is giving GM a $60Billion tax cut. No kidding. No justification, either. Not even a press release. WSJ outed the administration, today. If I were Ford Motor Company, I'd be really unhappy. But that's up to them to do that and they may not gripe about it. Our source says that if they did, you might see a wild-cat strike by their union. At least, that's the rumor.

And did you hear that Rush intimated that Lindsey Graham is saying that the Republicans FAILED, in this election? I've heard him say some really questionable things, but, if true, this shows me that he really doesn't understand the Tea Party phenomenon.

Why is this important?

Because, as Lindsey becomes more and more separated from the majority of voters in our State, and as he gets closer and closer to his re-election battle, he may well accept a position elsewhere. That means he has to be replaced. And guess who does that? I'm thinking Nikki would be taking a long hard look at the 1st Congressional District Congressman, Tim Scott.

Progressives are doing what we call "Lagging." That's where you hold Dem. precincts back until you know how many votes you need to win, then you make up the rest. Now THAT's organization! It's much more efficient than walking around money.

Broke New York City has higher than healthy lead in their water. Do they fix it? Not yet. Of course, lead makes you crazy, and that might just explain why they're all so liberal there. Instead, they tell their people to "run their water for at least 30 seconds." Really?

November 3, 2010
Bob Fulton Passes at 89. When Dad passed back in '06, one of the first people to call was Bob Fulton. He and dad went way back. He has been lionized by others and me for years. They should have done so. He was the Voice of the Gamecocks.

He still is.

There is no doubt that this win in the House by Tea Party Republicans is a repudiation of Barack Obama and his economic fascist ideas. America's Mayor, Rudy Giuliani, said it best, "The senate is only 1/3rd of the States. Governors are more. But the House is ALL of America. And all of America has rejected Obamacare and his other unworkable ideas."

To that, there is only this to add. Keynes lived in the past, in a Hobbesian Monarchy, with a constipated Hobbesian economy. America lives in the Lockean present, a Constitutional Republic, Progressiveically elected, yearning to be free of the bonds and chains of a Hobbesian Monarchy.

And one other thing, and this one is troubling: Almost 40% of America is DEDICATED to taking your money and distributing it among themselves. They are the welfare cheats, union bosses, Progressive panderers, and race baiters. Their objective has not been stunted. They want your money. And their desire is sung by their President, and lauded by their fires.

God Bless Our Republic! Now, it's time to get back to work, ending our long nightmare of false shame, cruel lies, and phony guilt!

ELECTION SPECIAL

11:00 That's it! We're done. Thanks for reading and following us. Have a good night, and remember - elections have consequences.

Best radio election show has to go to WTMA of Charleston. What a powerhouse of a presentation! Best radio numbers goes, as usual, to WORD in Greenville. Both online, both excellent. Best TV election show goes, again, to WYFF-TV-4. TV-10 in Columbia was a little too stuffy, but better than last time. WCBD in Charleston looked lost, as did Channel 5, there - neither's fault - bad numbers reporting due to long lines at the polls.

10:49 Bless the Bean Counters for really fast counting! Looks like Nikki wins! Cudos to NBC for calling it, first! (Did I actually just say that?) Well, a good guess is good for them.

10:38 Joe Wilson doing better. So is son, Alan. 74% of all the precincts in.

10:36 NBC has handed to race to Haley. Don't know if I agree. Too soon. Chickens hatching and all that. Looking better, though.

10:30 Spartanburg is all in. Big lead there for Haley. Is is enough? Say goodbye to Fat Jack Spratt!. Mick Mulvaney has won!

10:28 If Haley is going to win this thing, it will be decided some time tomorrow morning. Greenville is all in, now, and she leads Sheheen by about one percentage point. That's 69% of all the votes with Nikki ahead by 3%. But that's right now. If Sheheen wins, it will be a squeaker. It looks like the mud that was thrown by the Republicans for Truth in Politics may have stuck. My source in Columbia says that Sheheen was sold to them, saying that he will cooperate with the legislators and Haley won't. Richland County went for the idea.

10:10 All Four Amendments passed. Numbers are JUST coming in from voters in Greenville County, Spartanburg County, and Charleston County. Haley now has a slight lead.

9:56 Richland County (Columbia) is in. NBC numbers don't agree with the State Election Center. They have Haley slightly ahead. AP numbers don't agree with either. Looks like Trey Gowdy's got the District 4 seat.

9:43 We're not getting votes from Greenville or Columbia or Charleston.. So, don't count Haley out, yet. No Lexington or Spartanburg, either.

9:35 Sheheen 52%-46%. Wilson trailing in AG race. Spratt may be gone.

9:22 Sheheen is now ahead. 51-47%. 1/3rd of the precincts in. Looks like the RINOS may keep their power. Did YOU help them? Let's say Sheheen wins and Lindsey, knowing he won't get re-elected, opts to be SecDef? Who picks the Senator? The Progressive Governor. Ummm, you think he'll nominate a Republican or Tea Partier?

9:18 Fox is projecting that the Progressives have lost the House.

9:13 Haley has pulled ahead slightly with 300 precincts in.

9:00 Most of the RINO and Progressive strongholds have reported in. If Haley is to win, her numbers must turn, now.

8:51 We're calling the District 1 race for Tim Scott. We predict Tim will win by at least 55%. Maybe more.

8:46 District 3 goes to Jeff Duncan of the GOP - AP Calls it. Dem. Jim Clyburn remains the equal opportunity congressman - but he'll lose his position as majority party whip.

8:39 Suburbs are beginning to trickle in.. Alan Wilson has jumped up big - now leading by 55%. Nicky Haley ahead by 1% - 3%.

8:28 State Election site is reporting, now. Still mostly inner-city results..

8:21 The state election site is still not publishing numbers. Charleston still reporting large numbers of voters. As expected, city precincts are going slightly, for Sheheen - see it in Columbia, Greenville, Spartanburg, and Charleston numbers. Still only 1% of the state precincts reporting.

8:03 Where are the numbers? Well, it's possible that the numbers of voters are big all over. Look for urban numbers to come in first, but suburban voters account for 60%,and that number would be enormous if many of them voted.

7:56 Turnout is huge in Charleston. 2-hour wait is the biggest so far.

7:51 If Haley is to win, tonight, she will have to battle a concerted city-bound campaign. Even her closest supporters have responded to some of the excessive negative campaigning. Some critical numbers are coming in from city precincts around the state, and it appears that she will not be able to count on that crowd. In order for her to win, she must get 66%-70% of the remaining votes. Certainly doable, but it must happen.

7:14 A source at the counting house in Charleston says that Tim Scott may be elected by a new, high margin. That of course is not counting when there was only one party, back in the 60's.

7:00 Polls Closed. Is it legal, now, to call it for Jim DeMint?

6:53 Dick Morris (yes, THAT Dick Morris) has asked me to tell you he will also be blogging tonight from his website. He has been a great source of info for me, and I owe him. So check his site, here. He'll have very important things to say.

6:42 We've had a report from a Lowcountry source that voter turnout in one predominantly Progressive precinct was what he termed "about usual." He added that voter precincts on James island and Isle of Palms were heavier than usual, but that many of the older residents have voted early, there.

6:30pm 30 more minutes to go.. Jim DeMint feels up. Haven't heard anything from Lindsey Graham.. to be expected, I suppose.. Tea Parties look strong..

6:00pm OK.. We're up..
From Greenville to Charleston, from Myrtle Beach to to Rock Hill, we'll be blogging about what's going on.. Polls Close in one hour..

7:00am - Don't Just Hope - Change! Vote Today! Don't have much to say, but what needs to be said, needs to be said to those hundreds of you who read this blog who live outside of South Carolina.

Hopefully, South Carolina will burp out only one Congressional Progressive, and that by Progressive judicial fiat, not Progressiveic action. And with the election of Tim Scott in the 1st District, maybe we can get rid of Clyburn as well, eventually. But to those who live in Illinois, Ohio, California, Delaware, and Alaska: YOU MUST VOTE, and ECOURAGE OTHERS TO VOTE, TOO!

If you want a chance to begin to restore America to fiscal sanity; If you want your children to break their bonds of slavish indebtedness to the federal government; If you want your end of life to be decided ONLY by you; If you want your earnings to be thought of as your earnings and not "random good luck;" If you and your heirs want a country with free airways and free highways, then you need to vote today, and vote for the Tea Party Republican. In any case, don't vote for any Congressional Progressive - they are sewn into the fabric of Barack Obama's coat and will continue his agenda, blindly giving in to Chicago styled-Bully-boy tactics. You know these truths.

We South Carolinians will do our part. Please, PLEASE, do yours. Let's save America together.
