Now there are those who claim this is regressive and will hurt the poor and yadda yadda yadda, but since our poor have cars and color TVs and Obamaphones and health care on demand at any hospital (even before Obamacare) and free food and free housing, I'm not crying a whole lot. But even Boortz and some others have talked about a rebate system for these folks, so even the slackers get their pound of flesh.

But as a friend said recently, "See, its the rebate system that keeps me up at night... That alone would perpetuate big government."

Yes, and that's why I don't like the rebate part. If it makes liberals feel creepy that their voters are "getting cheated," we can simply adjust the free food allotments upwards, accordingly. That still allows for the ending of the IRS. So yes, don't do a rebate. In the end, to whom do we owe equity in the system?

"But, you can't tweak it to make it fairer. It's too much like a religion."

The Fair Tax is like Baseball. There's no crying in baseball and NO TWEAKING in the Fair Tax. EVERYBODY PAYS. The producers still wind up paying the tax. They are still the ones who have to decide whether they want to make a profit by passing along the cost to their customers or go out of business.

The Fair Tax is not a religion. Religion doesn't work on paper, unless you can PROVE that the existential can be transcendental, which you can't (although I have actually experienced it). The Fair Tax works and works on paper. Get a bunch of your friends together and act it out as a game over an evening. You will be amazed at how simple it is and how ALL of you benefit.

As for the poor. go to Somalia to find some, because there are NO real poor people in America unless they are poor by choice, insane, or being cheated or abused, and no tax system is going to help them.

However, your "tweaking" statement DOES show why there is a need for a book to explain something that ought to be simple on the face of it (it took me one short paragraph above.) We have been brought up in a learning system that is so obtuse and ignorant, we do not understand true capitalism.

HURRICANE SEASON

The long range forecast so far is looking like we're going to have a repeat of one of two years. Either we get a repeat of 1954 or 1989.

Now, if you're over 65 years old, you don't have to be told about Hurricane Hazel. That's the one that chewed up Myrtle Beach and all the beaches north into North Carolina including Wilmington and Wrightsville Beach. It was flooding, havoc, tornadoes galore and just horrible.

Almost every adult remembers Hurricane Hugo.

The problem is that neither of these horrific storms occurred until very late in the season. People have a bad habit of thinking the hurricane season is over in September because of that stupid rhyme. Well, there have even been Hurricanes in November, especially in the late 1910's when it was really really cold and really really hot, winter and summer.

So just remember, don't stop looking for a Carolina hurricane until Halloween, OK?

1987 AND COUNTING

I debated talking about the dumb speech the President made today, but, everybody has already commented that he just reiterated his lack of understanding of foreign policy, and the war on terror and just about everything else, but, something really important happened in the markets today that I wanted to point out.

Remember that 15 Trillion dollars of the 16.8 Trillion dollars that have been printed since 1914 has absolutely no backing whatsoever. Worse, many countries own both debt and dollars adding up to those 15 Trillion paper dollars floating around the world. A good portion of that backs Japanese bonds.

Yesterday, Japan's bonds had a bad, bad loss of confidence in their own market. Then Bernanke says they might stop the printing fantasy, and China's not producing - ALL REALLY BAD NEWS. Seeing this, OUR traders panicked, and our market took a huge dive at opening. But the President was going to make an important speech today and didn't want to be upstaged - although that had already happened by the Muslim terrorist in London who hacked the Brit Tommy to pieces. After the rush to sell, the volume stopped and the machines took over. When the volume came back, it was to sell into the gains. DO I need to tell you these are not good signs?

Look, I KNOW that big money traders have made huge profits in the stock market. But, each step along the way, they have had their successes because of government manipulation - all of it perfectly legal, thanks to Barney Frank and Chris Dodd - but no way to tell when the printing would end. Sitting smugly in her chair, assured that she will get a pardon from the President, no matter what happens, Lois Lerner let the House Committee investigating the raping of American Freedom by the IRS know that she didn't care what they were doing, she was going to hide behind the 5th Amendment like some seedy 1930's Chicago thug. Problem was, as she was "showing them" - pretending to innocence - she was, de facto, surrendering her ability to hide behind the 5th amendment.

Congressman Trey Gowdy, who happens to know more about the Bill of Rights than all of Obama's Bullies put together, noted that Ms. I'm-Innocent-And-You-Can-Kiss-My-Butt-Lerner had relinquished her 5th Amendment rights by her snotty comments.

"Hooray!" shouted me, as I watched on TV. For once, the bullies are getting just a small taste of comeuppance. Little did I know that while that was going on, Congressman Mick Mulvaney (who is proving to be another sharp cookie) and his compadres on the Finance Committee were grilling Jack Lew about the IRS and getting some really loopy but similar answers.

We're being punked, folks, and it's all because of the leadership which is missing in the American White House. On the other hand, you KNOW I don't worship at ANY politician's altar. But I know a good deal when I see it, and Mick and Trey are at least TRYING to protect us from the felgercarb storm that administration continues to throw at us. And THAT'S the difference it makes.

This Thursday, May, 23rd, begins the Greater Greenville Annual Scottish Games, or Gallabrae. Many, MANY people have worked very, very hard to make it a success. The actual games are held at Furman University on Saturday, so if you just point your car at Furman, the Troopers and volunteers will do the rest. But this year, there are other fun events which will be held throughout the city beginning Thursday- lots of music, a dance, and even a Brit car show.

The Greenville Scottish Games run Thur, May 23 - Sat, May 25.

I can't pretend that I am unbiased in these matters. I am a lifetime member of the Charleston Scottish Society as well as a lifetime member of Clan Anderson, a participating member in many Scottish Games throughout the United States, including the Charleston and Greenville games. My father was a Member of a St. Andrews Society in the Midlands and I have many cousins who belong to St. Andrews Societies throughout the State.

Scottish games are just plain fun. You don't have to dress up, but you can spend a fortune, if you want to. The music depends on your taste - it can be as sweet as a violin or as raw as the skirl of the bagpipes. The activities are the same - as sweet as a maiden's dance or as raw as the tossing of a giant rock called "the stane o' strength." And the food is likewise - sweet as honey and sugar or as odd as haggis which I will NOT describe, except to say that I love it and you eat it with scotch poured over it.

THE NEW GOLDEN RULE

In case you're wondering why the prices of gold and silver are going down when you know that inflation is running away and the stock market is being pumped up on practically NO volume, SwampfoxNews.com has discovered the answer, and it isn't pretty.

The answer is that the actual price for IN-HAND gold and silver is still high. What's gone down are the SPECULATOR'S prices for spot gold and silver for quantities which are NEVER GOING TO BE DELIVERED. We're not talking about FUTURES. This is a totally separate market. I know this sounds crazy, but there really are two different sets of prices. Go out and try to purchase actual specie - silver dollars, quarters, dimes or minted gold coins, even in large quantities - and see what the dollar price is. It surely isn't going to be what the quoted market spot price is.

Now, silver - which is the market I watch - isn't going to trade at $51/paper for a silver dollar, which was the high mark. But you WILL pay between $35/paper and $38/paper for it. That's the IN-HAND price. The trader's never-to-be-delivered price is somewhere around $22.40 as of Saturday night 11:59pm. THEY are the ones who are pushing the price down, again on unbelievably low volume.

Isn't this fun? Guess what else? The Russians are buying IN-HAND gold like crazy. So are the Chinese, the Indians, the Germans, and the Brazilians. Guess who isn't? Well, we aren't, for sure. But what we may be doing - and there is some really strong evidence here - is manipulating the quoted market never-to-be-delivered spot market. But manipulating that market is not hard, if you're printing dollars and can supply your agents with whatever they need to move it. We already know that the Fed is manipulating the stock market on tiny volume.

So what happens when the grownups finally take charge and the tax payers stop being raped and the markets stop being manipulated? Equilibrium.

It will be a scary time of massive, temporary inflation, when everyone in the United States will curse the name of Barack Obama. But with massive cuts in all new Government programs and rescinding all government regulations since he got in office, it will be a temporary horror.

Obama said he wanted to fundamentally change America, and even if he didn't intend for it to be that way, it's turning out so that everyone who had money is becoming poor and everyone who was poor is getting their money. Either way, it will be a very, very good idea to have possession of some precious metals, because the farce being perpetrated against the American people, whether intended or not, includes an attack on their life savings.

Pope Francis and Toilet Paper

You knew it had to happen, but at least he waited a decent amount of time before he was forced to play the European-born guilt-trip known as Liberation Theology. That's the completely wrong-headed idea that the state can tax its way to your salvation by robbing you blind and giving your money to the poor which will, supposedly make things equal. It's rubbish, of course, but what else comes out of Europe?

There's a really good example of why Liberation Theology - also known as socialism - doesn't work. It's taking place right now in the lovely South American country of Venezuela. You know, the country that's benefited so much from Liberation Theology, already.

They're running out of toilet paper. You may have already heard. But if you haven't, trust me, it's true. This isn't a plot by Sheryl Crow, either, it's all because of Liberation Theology.

You see, instead of letting the market set the prices for things, which would have shown that Chavez's policies were complete doo-doo, he put in, before his timely death, price controls. Butter, milk, lots of stuff, including the most important thing in the civilized world, continued to be affordable, but nobody wanted to manufacture or import toilet paper because they didn't want to lose money selling it in Venezuela.

Toilet paper became scarce. Then, it disappeared from store shelves. Naturally, in Obama-like fashion, Chavez's successor blamed everybody else, except the price controls - which is a function of fairness under socialism - or, as we said in seminary, "Liberation Theology."

There is no need to be crude. Francis is, after all, the Pope, and a modest man. But he is also known to be an intellectually honest man. Therefore, let us all pray that he heeds God's Parable of the Toilet Paper, which is being loudly preached in Venezuela at this very moment, so that he can turn, instead to the miracle of VOLUNTARY CHARITY, which IS the duty of ALL CHRISTIANS, not through the state, but through each person giving, as God has given him or her so to do.

Liberation Theology is heresy of the worse sort, as the irony in Venezuela so aptly shows. Let us pray it makes its point in the right places.

This is what you get when you don't plan well.. brave marines standing in the rain, holding umbrellas over at least one worthless politician. The fact that the White House reaction time was so slow, it could not react to a little rain shower in time to get everybody in doors from the Rose Garden, ought to tell everybody just how inefficient their whole setup is. This is how amateurs waste important American assets.
 

THIEF! THIEF!

When I was a young man, I was treated to a series of lectures by a famous archaeologist. During one of his lectures, he spoke on the importance of authenticity and how hard it is to come by it in the world of archaeology.

To make his point, he told us a true story of a time he was in Cairo, looking for antiquities. He was bargaining with an outdoor merchant over some incidentals, when he and the merchant noticed a young boy steal a banana from a fresh fruit stall, many yards away.

As the boy fled toward them, the fruit merchant yelled for the local police to arrest him. Now, the merchant's stand, where the archaeologist was bargaining, was at a turn in the street, and as the boy rounded the turn, he began to point ahead of himself, saying, "There he goes! There goes the thief! Catch him! Catch him!"

So many thieves, so few excuses..

From that moment on, the archaeologist never bought an artifact on the street, and never immediately trusted any authority, again.

I cannot get the image of that small thief out of my head. It is the perfect PR move to overcome a bad, BAD political situation. The problem for Obama, Holder, Axelrod, Carney, and Clinton is that there are too many thieves and only one solution.
 

EVERYBODY! HAVE YOU HEARD? THE FED HAS TURNED INTO A MOCKINGBIRD..

Have you ever wondered why birds repeat their beautiful songs and calls over and over, all day long? Most scientists think it has to do with positioning. Birds need to know where they are, where the mates are, where the food is, and where the competition is. Birds of the same feather, if you will, exist in a world of mutual trust.

Enter the mockingbird. This crafty feathered fiend can mimic many of the calls of his rivals. They, trusting they're hearing a positioning call, answer back. Then, it's only a matter of time until the mockingbird raids the nest of the unsuspecting rival bird, eating their eggs or their young.

Mockingbirds are a lot like national banks who print money with no backing.

If you think of the U.S. Federal Reserve as a mockingbird and the national banks of the other countries as rival birds, you get a pretty good picture of what is getting ready to happen. The mockingbird has already eaten all the baby birds and eggs in American nests - there simply is not enough tax money to pay for all of the money the Fed has created.

Now, the mockingbird has turned to the nests in foreign countries - their national banks. But something disastrous is happening. The other national banks have begun printing paper currency themselves - THEY'RE becoming mockingbirds, too!

No-one is alive today who remembers the beginnings of the Great Depression - ie. when they switched from real money to paper. Oh, you see the talking heads, looking so profoundly wise, but they're just like the wise heads in Germany and England and America, who absolutely KNEW how to fix the problem, 15 years later, and COULDN'T DO IT.. just like now. So everybody printed money and runaway inflation caused markets to crash everywhere, because, eventually, you have to stop printing the money.

You are being lied to. The current government doesn't know how to fix a recession, they never did. I have been saying this since before Obama was elected the first time. They do not know what they are doing. And at some point, they have to stop printing the money. The mockingbirds are literally eating each other to death.

There IS COPIOUS "THERE, THERE," and the Bully-in-Chief is doing everything he can to get a wall between the truth and the American people... can't wait to hear what he says about Justice tapping the AP(!!!!!)

In a worldwide currency war, when one country shows it cannot help its allies with its current economic policy, and it cannot keep its allies in line with monies and threats and favors, even it's allies can become enemies. How? By doing the exact same thing that the originating country has already done. Lower the value of its money even lower.

But, afterall, WHY DO THIS, in the first place? Some say it is the last resort of poorly designed [manipulated] ecnomies. If your economy is cheap you can sell to other countries cheaply. But this is foolish. For as your exports become cheap, your imports become just that more expensive

As you know, the White house has been directing the Federal Reserve to print 80 Billion dollars a month more than we actually have. The result has made the American Dollar pretty darn cheap all over the world. It has also made the entire world's currencies scarily

Well, this is where we are, now, besides the fact that none of our currencies contain any of their original value. The last time we were serious about this, there was a great depression and the Empire of Japan And these United States of American were about to go to war. It will be a very interesting end of May.

HEADLINES OF 'REDEMPTION' NOT TRUE, YET

MSNBC, ABC, then CBS, and eventually NBC all had to admit that Mark Sanford just beat the living crap our of Ms. Colbert-Busch in Tuesday's election. But then, they had to justify their denominational worship of Barack Obama by saying it didn't mean anything, or that it was a vote SOLELY against Nancy Pelosi.

It mean a lot of those things, but most of all it was a complete rejection of the policies and actions (or lack, thereof) of Ms. Colbert-Busch AND the Democrat President. Do you really think that the margin of victory would have been that small, had it been Tim Scott, a known, deeply devoted conservative with impeccable morals running against such a known progressive cripto-marxist?

But what Mark Sanford's victory isn't yet wasn't yet is the redemption of Mark Sanford.

Anyway, Mark Sanford has won, without much help from the NRCC - which may wind up being a problem for them in the future - and he heads to DC with soon to be Argentine wife. What he CAN do with his second chance is not be a pain in the butt. He can council with Trey and Jeff and Joe and the others and be a strong wall against the worst federal ideas since the CCC.

Wednesday, as we begin to discover the depth of the incompetence and subsequent cowardice of Hillary Clinton, we have proof that our state is going to need strong people in Congress to rout out the moral infection she represents. If Mark Sanford is strong for South Carolina and for America, then he WILL, at the same time, redeem himself from his tawdry acts that have embarrassed all of us. Then the headlines will be true.

This isn't like hating professional basketball because gentlemen like Michael Jordan don't play the game anymore. Nor is this like not voting for Albert Watson because your daddy is a Democrat. It's not even like a choice between Jimmy Carter and Gerald Ford where you knew nothing about Carter or Ford but you knew who Ford associated with and didn't like Nixon.

You KNOW who Ms. Colbert Busch is. She is JUST LIKE HER BROTHER, the progressive economic fascist (an economic fascist is the 1930's term used by Benito Mussolini for what we call a "buddy capitalist," a left wing socialist who discovers that you can fool all the people some of the time) who vents his venom in what is weakly called "comedy" on the inappropriately named "Comedy" Central. We KNOW who Marshall Sanford is. From former married cheating husband to former true Conservative Representative to former pain-in-the-butt Governor, he has exhibited the kind of behavior that one might suspect could deter him from keeping and bearing firearms.

It is unfair that the Lowcountry has to have such a choice, but choose they must. No fearless Trey Gowdey, who questions a lying Hillary Clinton face-to-face; or fierce Joe Wilson (who was right by the way - Obama did lie and Immigrants ARE getting Obamacare); no clear-eyed Jeff Duncan who answers his constituents every month, live. No, they get to choose between a person who is a known social elitist remarkably undeserved snob who has no compunction about taking away the rights of those with whom she disagrees, and a person whose actions at times are distasteful - at times laudable.

The question our Lowcountry cousins must ask themselves - those who will actually vote, and that seems to be fewer and fewer these days - is should I vote for someone whose ideas and actions are ALL untrustworthy, or, someone whose ideas and some actions are worthy but some actions are untrustworthy?

I love the Lowcountry and have given it a third of my life. The question they are faced with is not an enviable one. But they are as responsible for the answer as surely as if they themselves were the questioner.
 

A QUICK WORD ABOUT OUR SYRIAN FOREIGN POLICY

We don't really have one. What we have is a President who thinks he can effect foreign policy by the force of his personality, alone. The idea is not mine. I'm not sure whether Rush or Krauthammer said it first, but the idea is just as true, regardless of who originated it.

He doesn't realize that most countries don't care about the force of his personality. What they do care about is the force of his missiles, the resolve of his will, and the might of his allies. All of those things - ALL OF THEM - he has wasted on peccadilloes of peak and ill conceived ideas. He has unwittingly snubbed our allies, reduced our armaments, and threatened to reduce more, made treaties to bully our own people, and bowed to our competitors.

So, when Obama says he will draw a line or do anything, definitively, anywhere, the one thing you can absolutely depend on is that he does not mean it.

This is Pseudoephedrine Hydrochloride. It is the best medicine there is for clearing nasal passages. You have to be 21, show your drivers licence and prove you are not a felon, just to buy a very limited supply. Never mind that some people need to take a lot of it in order to breathe. But the State of South Carolina is afraid those choking people will boil it down into meth. So even though it would take a process that is so dangerous to make, any intelligent person wouldn't dare try, even while drunk, the people who need more, can't get more.

This is the new "Plan B" pill. It lets your 15 year old daughter murder her baby without your permission. She can buy enough of the darn things to bathe in.. over the counter. She can kill more babies than Hitler killed Jews in the Holocaust, as long as they live inside her tummy. She can buy it over the counter and just swallow.

The moral of this little lesson is that your federal government, and every Democrat in South Carolina think that it's more of a sin for you to breathe properly than to murder any given number of babies in a mother's womb. Isn't medicine fun?
