It's a Gas, Man!

Avg. SC Gas Prices on 8/1/2012

Ooopsies! The government has misrepresented economic numbers, again. They didn't bother to report the 13¢ - 25¢ rise in gasoline prices, at the end of June. At one State gas station, the price of gas, then, was as low as $2.70/gal and today, a check of the same gas station revealed regular at $3.28/gal. So, while it's true that gasoline prices have risen 17¢ in July, the actual rise since June 1st is between 30¢ & 50¢. We're right back where we were, with intolerably expensive gasoline, rather than just onerously expensive gas.

Blaming the Innocent

When we decide to discuss a story or want to repeat a piece of news, the rule is, even if you don't quote your sources, get more than one trusted source, and if you can't, TELL people it's only a rumor. In reporting the story of the vermin vomit in Colorado who offed all those innocent people in a movie theater, the reporting by established, major media has been embarrassing. One of the worst of these has been the attempt to brand someone - anyone - as the CAUSE of this despicable event.

The vermin vomit was seeing a psychiatrist at student services of the University of Colorado. Her name is Dr. Lynne Fenton, who also doubles as medical director of the school's Student Mental Health Services. For all we know, she had suspicions that he was "a piece," but there are millions of Americans who go to therapy every day, and none of them do murder. How was she to know? Yes, there was a detailed notebook of what he would do, but it was sitting in the "in" bin at the University post office, but it was undelivered.

Now, some media people released a report that she was "disciplined" by the Colorado Medical Association. But you need to know that Colorado has been the home of looney lawmakers for over 25 years. That may explain why she was "disciplined" for prescribing Ambien and Claritin (yes, the OTC sinus medicine in SC) for her husband, and (God forbid!) Xanax for herself to cope with her beloved mother dying a horrible, agonizing death.

And she may or may not have been the person who, when interviewed in 1988 - before she got her terminal degree - saying that acupuncture "might" be used to increase breast size.. a claim which is used today by some acupuncturists. We do know that she was hired to be an acupuncturist for the U.S. Air Force. And, in any case, does anybody know for a fact that acupuncture used in a certain way does not stimulate hormones to increase the size of mammalian appendages? Ever been to Asheville? Plus, there has never been a definitive study one way or the other.

So we have a person who has said things, which, in a state as looney as Colorado, are actually considered to be normal. This same person, as a degreed PhD in Psychiatry, has prescribed a non-narcotic sleep aid and a decongestant for her husband and Xanax for herself, something that in many states is legal. She has had the bad fortune to be the therapist for a truly evil person who may or may not be psychotic. She has had the bad fortune to excel in the art of medical acupuncture. Now she is expected to have anticipated the reception of a notebook detailing the murder rampage of the Colorado vermin vomit.

If all of this is to show that she is not a truly degreed Psychiatrist, then fine, SHOW the evidence, otherwise, none of this is pertinent to the wickedness of the vermin vomit's murderous rampage. But you will still see it in all of the media. ALL of them. Is that crazy?

And By the Way,
What happens if three or more people break into your home? Do you explain to them that they shouldn't really have assault rifles, ask them to please consult a Progressive before breaking into your home, or do you kill them with your assault rifle? Bill Krystol, a dyed in the wool conservative, thinks you shouldn't have one. Justice Antonin Scalia says you probably don't need to own a canon. I say, you need to own enough weapons, not just to hunt, not just to defend you home, but also to keep the government honest. If that takes a Howitzer, get the caissons rolling along!

Dancing in the Dark

Apparently, Obama's words have finally come home to haunt him, as I predicted, when he said them. I also predicted that he would try to weasel out of his words. But teachers and roads were the wrong answers, too. You don't have to use a bridge or a road, you have to learn the information for yourself, no matter how well it is presented, and you have to pay for the road's construction and your taxes or tuition hires the teacher, so you still did it by yourself.

No, the man who would be president is the perfect example of a 1930's Italian Fascisti. As Neil Boortz points out (all the dang time) he was raised by his mom and dads to be that way. He doesn't know any other way of looking at the world. He doesn't really know where money comes from. He also does not understand free will, nor the moral risk associated with personal responsibility. Now, by endeavoring to be clever and trying to obfuscate his own heart-felt words and ideals, he has opened up his real, closely guarded persona. Again.

God and Goldilocks

I love to watch BBC Science programs and NOVA on PBS, because I love to laugh. Not because they are wrong, but because an honest examination of mathematics and science is bringing us closer to the mind of God.

If you know anything about theology - and, here, I am not talking about what is called "primitive theology, the gift of faith" but intellectual theology, or "hermeneutics," - then you understand what I mean. As science and math look back further and further into the misty beginnings of the universe, the findings make the lookers use terms, which definitions sound suspiciously like terms used in hermeneutics.

In the beginning..

String Theory is a good example. In String Theory, matter is composed of strings of energy which vibrate at certain levels in order to assume its type of matter. Or the Big Bang - "Et dixitque Deus fiat lux...'." Or the "Goldilocks" position of the Earth with a moon created by another planet grazing the proto-earth at just the right angle which created the thing, guaranteeing the geological stress necessary for evolution, but with stability of seasons, to insure curiosity for intelligent life that would eventually evolve.

Even prior to all of this science cum theology, it was always interesting to me that the great stories of the Bible had a foundation in fact. And that the Hebrews had dietary laws that have been proven by medicine to be a great way to prepare food to keep from being killed by eating the wrong things or prepared the wrong way.

At some point, you have to ask yourself how many of these similarities are just coincidences. I am quite sure that the Almighty understands the Goldilocks principle, because, in the beginning.. well, you know the story.

Senate's Kabuki

The Democrats think that passing the tax increase for small businesses and other "millionaires" is a smart thing. And if the Republicans in the House pass it, it would plunge the US deeper into the recession which has ended only in the South. Fortunately, they will either kill the bill or vote it down.

The Democrats will pretend the slow economy is to be blamed on the failure of this tax increase to be passed. But if people vote out as many Democrats as possible, including Obama, the tax "cliff" will be just a date, with the tax increase revoked in mid-January.

Giant Sucking Sound

China just bought a Canadian oil company. Why is this important? Because now they can influence the price of oil and gasoline on the North American continent, the way they have been influencing the price of oil for years in Asia. They paid cash, by the way.

Tired of politics? Want to just coast? Well, I hope you have an escape plan when Obama's thugs come knocking down your door, wanting to now why you haven't bought a Chevy Volt. I am almost being facetious.

Meet Joe Black.. Again

U.S. traffic deaths have jumped 13.5% so far this year. This, after so many states have passed anti-texting-and-driving laws.

The Detroit News went on to speculate that the warmer than normal winter put more people on the road, but the rate is figured in deaths per 100-million miles, which is a ratio. Another media outlet noted that drinking and driving arrests are up, but deaths are up, too. Still, another, guessed that the lives-per-mile savings have peaked for seatbelt use.

My guess is that the average speed limits have dropped and that people just don't care. Those who are obeying the speed law have become hazards to those who know that the speed limit is stupid and go the natural speed of the road. Or, 13% more people could be committing suicide by vehicle.

Then, again, it could just be evil spirits.

No Justice No Peace

We will now witness what progressives have saddled us with - a comedy of errors we call our justice system. Justice would be taking that piece of vermin vomit in Colorado and stringing him up by his privates until he starved to death.

Instead, bleeding hearts will bleed, morons will bleat, and progressives will purse their lips and talk about gun control. The vermin vomit will get a plush cell, three squares, probably internet access, and cable plus (it IS Colorado, folks) for the rest of his life.

This is not justice. This is laughing at justice and destroying the peace of freedom. And don't you just know that this vermin vomit understands this so much better than decent people.

I have had a couple of psychiatrists write to alert me to the fact that they think he is faking. They observed that he knows how a psychotic is supposed to act and is putting on a show. They also warned that the Colorado system will not allow the 24/7 video of him in his cell to be brought as evidence. As a trainer of actors for 45 years, I tend to agree with them. His performance is perfect. Too perfect. A person with a real psychosis has lucid moments. This vermin vomit is all crazy all the time he knows he's being observed. And Colorado law mandates that the crazy person be informed that he is being observed. (I kid you not!)

And you HAVE seen his face before. On the Sistine Chapel in Rome. It's the face of the "Damned Man" from "The Last Judgement" by Signore M. Buonarote.

vermin vomit

"Damned Man" from Michelangelo's "The Last Judgement"

The stupid Progressive system we have must be replaced with an ethical system that recognizes the need to define and recognize evil in terms of free will. This vermin vomit in Colorado is not crazy. He is wicked beyond measure and should be terminated. There is no doubt that he did it. There is no doubt that he planned it with cold logic and satanic anger. The only question left to answer is electricity or poison?

Poverty Rates Up

The rate is up. But our poor are very rich compared to the poor in any other country. Our poor have color TVs, a car, and a monthly income.

No wonder the poverty rate has increased; Poverty has been upgraded too.

More not Less, Please

South Carolina law enforcement organizations used to be known for stone-cold honesty. Sure, there were exceptions, but for the most part our Sheriff's departments and the City Police used to cooperate like cousins in love. There was an understanding in those counties that the power of the law should only be applied to heinous crimes. Pranks, hijinks, and "mistakes" were sorted out with the families to whom the miscreants belonged. Today, things are very different. Pranksters go to jail, "mistakes" can get you 20 years in prison, and the only cooperation between county and city occurs grudgingly. And when it comes to sharing Coroners' information, you may pay for it with your taxes, but you'll have to sue to get it.

When asked WHY they felt public medical examiners autopsy findings would no longer be available to the public, the answer was given, "...autopsy reports should remain private because they often contain a detailed profile of someone's vital statistics and documentation of other medical problems that could be unrelated to how the person died."

Let's assume for the sake of argument that the coroners are right. Who gets to decide what is the part the public can know and what don't they get to know? I also don't need to remind anybody that many sins can be covered up if only partial information is allowed to be dispersed.

This State Judge's ruling really bothers me. I hope we can settle this like gentlefolk. But autopsy information should be made public where public death has occurred.

Just In Case

Thanks to another crazy person acting out his fantasy with the lives of teenagers, some of the creepy people on the Anti-Gun side are already out in public saying that we need to restrict all guns all the time. To answer those creepy people, and to make sure everyone understands, the CWP law in Colorado is so tortuous, that it is almost impossible to get one, unless the sheriff of a county allows it. Can you guess how the Sheriff and Police Chief of the county in which Aurora exists feel about the second amendment?

One of the great fallacies of law enforcement is that they think they can protect people. They can't do it. Now, when it comes to catching perps, nobody does it better than the cops - even the ones in Aurora, Colorado. But prevent crime? Can't be done. Ask yourself, where was the adult with a CWP and a gun in that theatre? Or better yet, why WASN'T there an adult with a CWP and a gun in that theatre?

I've said before, and I will say again - every woman should carry a .38, & every man, a Glock. As L Neil Smith says, "An armed society is a polite society."

Requiem for a Tragedy

The media report was accurate as the facts were precise. Two men, a father and son, were found dead in their home in Cherokee County. The father, 66, died of a heart attack. The son, 34, died of dehydration - possibly heat stroke. No relatives were mentioned. No neighbors were mentioned. It is sadness and irony all wrapped up in a heroic fallacy.

The father was sole care-giver. The son was a paraplegic. When the air conditioning went off the heat-stressed father had a heart attack. There was no-one left to take care of the son who could not take care of himself. The son died, literally, because his father died. It is the kind of irony that, had they been 5th Century BC Greek, Aeschylus might have written a great tragedy about them.

In order for something to be a tragedy, it must have, as part of the plot, something called "Hamartion" (Χαμαρτιον). The literal Greek meaning is an archery term - "missing the mark." Aristotle used the term to mean "heroic fallacy." The Christian Gospels use the term with the meaning "stupid mistake." The great protestant reformers believed the term meant "corrupting sin."

My fear is that some pathetic busy-body, with more money and time than sense, will take this tragedy and try to spend more non-existent public funds to try to keep this from happening, again. Not only would this be a stupid mistake, but it would also be a corrupting sin.

The occurrence of this sad event, though rare, was both predictable and preventable. I certainly hope that they weren't depending on someone to check on them. Even so, the Heroic Fallacy was that nobody thought to spend a little bit of money on one of those cheap, but effective, life notification services (You know - "Help, I've fallen and I can't get up!"). The missing of the mark was the misunderstanding that the service was not as expensive as a few six packs of lite beer, per month. The stupid mistake would be that the busy-body isn't checking on someone he or she knows who is in a similar situation. The corrupting sin would be that the busy-body, instead of helping some people by herself, with her own money, would, instead, try to have put into effect a one-size-fits-all solution which would be paid for with somebody else's money.

The man and his son are dead. Their death is a tragedy. Our humanity screams to the heavens, "Why can't somebody DO something???" But that is another fool's errand. The time to have done something is gone. And as sad as it is to say, the persons to have done something did not think to do it, and have paid their own price. At some point, people must be responsible for themselves, their actions, and their inactions.

"...We have left undone those things which we ought to have done; we have done those things which we ought not to have done... but thou, O Lord, have mercy upon us..."

of the Protestant Episcopal Church, 1946.

Head Spinning from CNBC, CNN Bidnez, and Foxbiz

Maybe it's because it's Tuesday. Maybe it's because it's summer. Maybe it's because there are more cowards in banking than honest people working for a living. Or maybe there are not enough people who either don't know what's happening or don't care.

Maybe it's because my wife is making me clean my home office.

Either way, today's stock market defies explanation. The Economy is crap! The Senate is dedicated to playing "ho" to Obama's fairy tale economics! Obama is living in a different dimension! Banks are trading worthless paper! Why are we still talking about trading currencies?

NYSE agent guessing, "WhiskyTangoFoxtrot?"

Why don't we just trade Friars' farts? They have about the same monetary value as world currencies.. (Yes, this is a literary reference to the "Summoner's Tale" in Chaucer's Canterbury Tales.)

Oh, and Bruce Wayne is a venture capitalist who pays more than his fair share, regardless of the BS you hear from Hollywoodland. His only problem is that Obama, his puppets - the Fed and the Senate - have devalued his paper money by 58%, after the previous Presidents since 1917 devalued the dollar by 40%.

Yes, He DID Say It!

Barack Obama said, Saturday,

"If you've got a business, you didn't build that.

"There are a lot of wealthy, successful Americans who agree with me because they want to give something back. If you've been successful, you didn't get there on your own. You didn't get there on your own. I'm always struck by people who think, well, it must be because I was just so smart. There are a lot of smart people out there. It must be because I worked harder than everybody else. Let me tell you something -- there are a whole bunch of hardworking people out there."

"If you've got a business, you didn't build that."

Barack Obama has attacked every small business owner in America, and by doing so, he has defined the fascist economic argument against small business: Only mega-businesses can be controlled by big government. Therefore, we must only have big business so that it can be controlled by big government.

Barack Obama will also deny that he said what he said. He'll do that, because he added this qualifier..

"If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help. There was a great teacher somewhere in your life. Somebody helped to create this unbelievable American system that we have that allowed you to thrive."

The problem is that you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink. You can force a child to sit in front of education, but the child must choose, by his own free will, to learn. Many don't. My system would correct this, but that's another editorial.

Today, you have been privileged to witness the true stripes of a political candidate. Barack Obama IS a fascist. Fascism is anti-American. No matter what he says between now and election time, he has shown his soul. Do not forget. Do not forget.

Santayana's Warning
Get the feeling that we've seen this election before? Well, you and I haven't, but our grandparents have. Hitler's campaign for Chancellor in 1932. Mussolini and his economic Fascisti led Italy into eventual chaos and shame.

Any student of history will recognize the tools that Hitler, Mussolini, and their henchmen used. The tough part is that most students of history have a hard time believing that anyone would ever use these tools again. You must decide for yourself if you have the courage to admit that this is what is happening now.

The tools these dictators used were many, but the greatest of these was the Big Lie. If you tell a big enough lie, people will believe you. For instance, you could say that your opponent is a felon. True believers will not even blink. But thoughtful people will trust that a person in such a high position could not possibly lie. Those who have the liar's back are usually the cynics who, like Goebbels, Borman, Martino, and Himmler, are there for the ride, the power, the rush - they expect the big lie and will find justifications to support it.

Yes, they look the same.. so, do we need to investigate the rumor that
David Axelrod is the son of Adolf Schicklgrüber?

Besides the felonious behavior lie, another is "a time of trials" which only Hitler or Mussolini (from whom Hitler stole the idea) could cure. Obama, like these dictators, has already persuaded many of his followers that we have had such a Kampfzeit and that we will have Kampfjahren (years of trials), even if we do re-elect him.

Every generation tries to convince itself that it has created a government directed by good intentions - that it operates from an ethical or moral platform. When those who run it discover that they have been betrayed, as they always will, because government is almost never the answer, they continue on the track that is familiar, which is to say, the wrong track. Under the dictators, this discovery came too late. Too late to change leaders.

It's not enough to just be against the kind of thug politics we have seen from this White House over the past three and a half years. People have to get out and vote to end this replay of Italian and German history. And what about all those "principled" people for whom Romney is not the "right choice?" The simplest answer is that working voters won't have another chance, if the same guy stays in another four years. Oh, they'll be able to vote, but these principled people - these working Americans - will NEVER be in the majority, again - not with 51% moochers, which is what America will have in 2016. To think differently is giving in to an even bigger lie.

Look. I can live under socialism or fascism or any other Marxist confabulation, government can poorly imagine. They're all BS, and they all have weaknesses which can be played. They are the most unequal of all systems even though equality is what they strive for - and that leaves lots and lots of loopholes. This is not a Democrat or Republican thing, although Democrats are not logical beings, for the most part (there are real exceptions, but you probably don't know about them.) This is a working American thing - a Capitalist versus Socialist Progressive thing.

Think of bears. Even park rangers know you shouldn't feed the bears. Why? Because they will become dependent on the food they get from the people who feed them. Welfare, unearned medical benefits, and tolerance of illegal immigrants are all bear food, and the government is the feeder.

When you feed the bears, Santayana is tsk-ing..

If you want to live in a society which is truly equal, you're going to have to give up some dearly held ideas, such as "government can solve problems," and "a society can be just without morals or ethics," and "not everybody has to contribute to his or her own welfare," and "spewing 'facts' without proof." We could start by passing the constitutional amendment you see to your left at the bottom of this page.

It's not that government does not have a function among civilized people. We need infrastructure (roads and schools) and a powerful standing army and courts of law with police who realize they can't protect, but they can serve. But a federal reserve which is constantly fed with more and more tax dollars because the system doesn't work? Or an environmental bureaucracy which destroys the lives of the very people it's supposed to protect?

It is an easy thing to call someone, "Hitler" or "Mussolini." But it is quite another thing to compare historical actions side by side. I am not calling Barack Obama "Mussolini" or "Hitler." I am saying that he is doing things which, if he is not stopped, will create a new dictator for history to ponder. Only he will be ours and we will have to explain our inaction to future generations.

Portrait of a Saintly Dog
I have a picture of my elderly dog, Daisy, on my laptop.

Daisy

As you can see from the photograph, she has a supremely saintly look on her face, as if she is speaking with the Almighty. I cherish this picture because it signifies the irony of appearance versus reality

When the picture was taken, Daisy was not talking to God, as far as I know, but rather, looking at a squirrel which was yammering at her from its perch, in a nearby oak tree. In another time, say, 12 or 13 years ago, the squirrel may have yammered, but it would have done so on the move and from a higher limb.

Having spent some time fighting political battles, I recognize the importance of imagery which effects elections. Conservatives are not very good at political imagery. Progressive political operatives, on the other hand, do it in their sleep. To them, Daisy is talking to God. To them, it does not matter what the truth is - only what the truth can be made to look like. On the other hand, Conservatives can't tell which is the real and which is fake.

I'm not trying to pick on Conservatives - the Progressives do that well enough. What I'm trying to do, as I did last week, is trying to get Conservatives to toughen up. If they are going to get this country back on the right track, they must fight as if their lives depended on it. They must harden themselves to be as ruthless as the Progressives, but without the dishonesty of that benighted philosophy. Don't tell me it can't be done. I've done it. Several times.

If you don't know how to do it, buy us lunch, and Daisy and I will tell you.

Hot Weather, Eh?
Isn't Canada the home of Liberals and Progressives? Well, apparently not if it involves actual science being reported in the Canadian press.

You can read one of the fairest breakdowns of the record-breaking heat wave in this article, which was picked up by Yahoo, Canada.

If you'll remember, we've been quoting archeometeorologists (people who study weather of prehistoric times), who have been reminding people that hot and dry middle of the Planet, accompanied by much colder and wetter poles, is a signature of the beginning of a cooling planet, not a heating planet. And sure enough, Canadian Weather Service meteorologist Greg Carbin, says this pattern is what we have. "Dry soils, in part a product of the dry winter, exacerbate the heat." The North Atlantic Oscillator, which is supposed to slow down because the polar ice caps are melting, is slowing down, but the north pole is not melting more than seasonally normal, contrary to popular belief. The South Pole is colder than normal.

"Hotter" sun - more active as a cause, or just coincidence?

Another interesting occurance, which is NOT being talked about is the brightness of the Sun, which has increased since Fall of 2011. Let's be specific about these terms. I'm not saying that the Sun is "hotter." That's a fool's errand. Hotness occurs when photons (a source of broadcast energy in the form of light) hits another surface, and that surface responds by either reflecting the energy or absorbing it. If an energy source remains constant, then, only the ability to absorb or reflect the energy determines its "heat," as the photons interact with its surface. But if the source increases the number of photons broadcast, greater heat will be created on that surface. Now that we know heat is dispersed through the troposphere, rather than being trapped like a greenhouse, as previously alleged, we have to look for another source of heating - like an increase in photons.

Something I've been doing on very clear, bright summer days, since 1983, is holding up a sheet of 100pt paper (a degree of brightness which has been used in television to get color balances since 1952) and reading the number of lumens (a measure of photon brightness.) For the first time since I can remember, the lumens have increased by a measurable, though small, amount. We already know that the number of sunspots and coronal mass ejections have increased dramatically in both number and severity. And, although this may have no effect on the brightness of the sun, it does show that something is happening in the great big cooker. And the great big cooker is brighter. Noticeably.

Cool Book, Cool Author
OK, you missed the book signing, but you can still buy the book at the Hub City Bookshop, 189 West Main Street in downtown Spartanburg. I'm putting that first, because reporters always bury the facts most important to authors, as if there is some unwritten law forbidding commerce.

Gregg Akkerman

Frankly, I didn't even know my friend and colleague at USC Upstate, Gregg Akkerman, could write - I thought his professorial strength lay as an amazing Jazz artist and lecturer. Well, not only can he write, but he has written a wonderful bio on a Jazz artist that almost got undeservedly forgotten - Johnny Hartman.

Almost Forgotten Jazz Vocal Great, Johnny Hartman

Hartman was one of those great voices of the forties and fifties - a sweet, deep jazz voice that could melt butter, or your sweetheart's heart - you can hear Hartman in Clint Eastwood's movie, The Bridges of Madison County, in the mutual seduction scene between Clint and Meryl Streep. And except for Jazz afficiandos such as Eastwood or Jazz musicians like Gregg, Hartman was almost completely forgotten. Well.. not anymore. Gregg's book is not only the first book, it's the complete story of the remarkable singer's life.

The news release says, "The book that follows Hartman's story from his big-band origins to a Grammy-nominated solo career, and includes interviews with his family, friends, and fellow musicians including Tony Bennett, Jon Hendricks, and Bill Taylor. Gregg is scheduled to read excerpts from his book, answer questions, and perform live music with a duo.

I know what you're thinking.. Jazz in Spartanburg? right?? All I can say is that the Upstate is the best kept secret of the American Arts scene. You can also buy the book by clicking here.

So.. Yeah.. Can You See..?
My favorite verse from the National Anthem is

"O thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved home and the war's desolation.
Blest with vict'ry and peace, may the Heav'n rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation!
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust."
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!"

That just about says it all, as a general statement of the resolve of a just nation.

But, as I was researching the Star Spangled Banner, I discovered that Oliver Wendell Holmes wrote another verse during the Late Unpleasantness (1861) as an insult to the South. Fine. OK. The war is over. And, as I read over it, a thought came to me that this is exactly what the struggle against Barack Obama and his fascist friends had become.

Imagine, then, as you read it, that November has come and gone and that the current resident of the Whitehouse and his minions of liars and cheats are about to be turned out..

"When our land is illumined with liberty's smile,
If a foe from within strikes a blow at her glory,
Down, down with the traitor that tries to defile
The flag of the stars, and the page of her story!
By the millions unchained,
Who their birthright have gained
We will keep her bright blazon forever unstained;
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave,
While the land of the free is the home of the brave."

While the land of the free is the home of the brave. Indeed.

Oh, And...

On The Passing of Andy Griffith
What it was, was Heaven.... Buddy, have a "drank" from the fountain of Life!

Asking Embarrassing Questions
Why can't Conservatives lie like a Progressive? Why don't we see more political theatre like the Progs do? Why can't Conservatives cast aside logic and win more votes by appealing to emotion the way Progressives do?

Why do Conservatives choose the dumbest political advisors while the the Progs hire brilliant snakes? Why are Conservatives afraid of going for the jugular, not just winning, but metaphorically "maiming" their opponents, like the Progressives do? Why can't Progressives court the corrupt media and kiss the fannies of the Hollywood pseudo-intellectuals, like the Progressives do?

Why can't Conservatives use minorities while courting them in public, like the Progressives do? Why can't Conservatives surrender their principles just to win, like the Progressives do? And while we're at it, why don't Conservatives act like they know what they're doing, when the Progressives do, even though they don't have clue?

Why do Conservatives hate politics?

Desperately Seeking Boson
The CERN people in Switzerland say they have seen a path or shadow of the long sought
Higgs Boson aka the "God Particle". If they can see it, they say, it will be proof of several theories in theoretical particle physics - among them, first causes.

C.E.R.N. Super-collider in Switzerland

Atheists are slobbering all over themselves saying it will prove the non-existence of God - just how this would be proof is hard to say. But they have not actually seen it (the way you would see a regular subatomic particle), try as they may. The problem is that they have to make a Higgs Boson, through a collision of pre-existing particles, in order to see it.

Does anybody see a paradox here?

If.. or when.. they do "see" a Higgs Boson, it will have been a CREATION. Some humans will crash some stuff together and the result will be a Higgs Boson - it will have been created. Created things need a creator. The argument is more than chicken-and-egg, it's apples and oranges.

A Rain & Hail-Barrel Full of Thanks!
We had one of our biggest days here at SwampfoxNews.com, yesterday. Over 17,000 hits per hour from about 2:15pm until 10:30pm in the evening. Our weather maps are current and our prognostication by Joe Bastardi is right-on. Usually we get numbers like this during a major storm or hurricane. Thanks, everybody!

A Midsummer Fantasy
Here's a question - What happens if nobody believes money is money?

I know that's a dumb sounding question, but this is precisely what's happening in world money markets. The heads of finance for ALL of the nations are either lying or they are completely insane. Here's my reasoning:

Europe had only the say-so from each of its countries that their currency actually had worth, before they joined in the Euro. We now know that this was, in most cases such as Spain, France, and Ireland, mostly false. There is, currently, no evidence that America's paper has any backing at all, except our armed forces. There have also been a lot of reports from many trusted sources that say China and Japan are buying precious metals to back up their currency (this is counter intuitive, so take that into consideration). If that's true, then the US and Europe may have a true exchange problem. Even countries such as Estonia and Germany, which have a vibrant economy, expresses that economy in worthless Euros. What happens when people in the exchange markets start dumping Dollars AND Euros in favor of Swiss Francs, the Yen, and the Yuan (renminbi).

I have actual emails from sources in Washington who tell me that they are being told to inflate the value of the dollar, not to mention that they admit DC has been, for three years, underestimating actual inflation. I really do wish I could "out" these sources, but, frankly, I'm too small, and the lies go all the way up the economic food chain - they would be consumed by the much bigger fish, and I'd have no sources. You'll just have to trust me. Sorry.

On the other hand, as long as everybody is living the fantasy, who will have the courage to correct them?

The Heat Is On
First of all, I want to say how utterly sorry I am for the people who will suffer in the heat, predicted three weeks ago by Joe Bastardi. But, as sorry as I am, I am even more angry with the shortsightedness of Progressives. In their rush to provide free healthcare, free housing, free food, and restrict growth, they have failed to maintain the infrastructure, which is a true function of government. In their rush to provide welfare for the general, they have failed to provide for the general welfare. Many, many will die from the heat, because they refused to beef up the electric infrastructure of the DC area, which would have sped up the recovery from the recent storms. But alas, they were too busy scoring points with people who do not produce to provide for the people who do.

I'd like to make the point, again, that archeometeorologists say this kind of violent weather was quite often one of the leading indicators of Earth cooling, not heating. It's still under the temperature average to the North.

In any case, please remember, it is not a conservative nor a libertarian who caused your grandma or grandpa to die from the heat. It is the person making you buy the healthcare insurance.
