HAS FOX NEWS CHANNEL LOST ITS WAY?

(August 25, 2016) I watched Fox News Channel's Special Report with Brett Baer tonight and was disappointed. Maybe it was the panel

The proof lies in marzipan.

Marzipan is the the base ingredient for the large majority of baking architectural structures. Tall tasty towers, or strong supports for thin sugar-lace on cakes, and more and more. You have to have a specific kind of nut, too, in order to make marzipan - almond. But, the most important feature in making good marzipan - even more than good organization, is the ability to persevere, to mold the marzipan with patience and flare.

News reporting - REAL NEWS REPORTING - is boring, hard, gumshoe work. Phone, phone, phone. Visits - lots of visits. Great skepticism. Everything questioned. Then, when ALL the facts are in, or as much as can be reasonably gathered, wordsmithing, which takes real talent, takes over.

The problem is that most news outlets don't make marzipan. Most make instant pudding. It's really easy and tasty enough, and if that's all you know, you think that's all there is. Obviously, there's more to real news reporting.

Also, starting in the late 1950's, Television News outlets decided that they were, not a beacon of fairness, but a torch of advocacy. In the '50's, it was easy. Segregation - Bad. Integration - Good. Details at 11. But the easy advocacy ended for most people during the Reagan administration. Do you teach how to fish or just give them a fish, or both? To Conservatives an Libertarians, that's an easy answer. But if you are an advocate, who's the bad guy? It got worse from there.

Now, we have people who will do anything to preserve the advocacy meme. But it's not simple anymore, so the media has to link up with people who offer simple answers, fake generosity, and Fantasyland scenarios. Thus, political correctness was born, wherein politeness was more important than truth, and people were not responsible for their own feelings.

For instance. There is NO pressure on Trump to release his tax returns, EXCEPT from the DEMOCRATS. Theoretically, the MEDIA should not be pressuring anybody to do anything. But WHAT is the EASY thing - the Instant Pudding Thing? It's a lot harder to stay away from advocacy. So NBCBSABCNNYTBGWAPOFOX do the easy, advocacy thing. They can't help it - they literally DON'T KNOW ANY BETTER. Only Fox Business News Is Asking the Hard Questions while its bigger sister has started to play the advocacy game - not for the Country's sake, but for the RINOs' sake. If I were their manager, I would start firing some people - not like daughters of RINOs - but like advocacy-prone producers who went to Lazy Journalism Schools.

Marzipan or Instant Pudding? Perhaps too simplistic, but there are people who have thrown away an objective trade of truth, and embraced a criminal, because she seems safer and more polite. You know.. easier.
