I read, recently, that you have begun to search your soul over the happenings of the past few days. I know that you were incorrectly quoted by no less a source than the Daily Caller, which usually get things right, when they said,"South Carolina Republican Rep. Trey Gowdy doesn't think the GOP's 'defund Obamacare' strategy turned out to be such a smart plan."

What you actually said, in essence, was that, on the surface, nothing has changed, and that you were going home to think about what happened and what use your public service has been. And if I were from outer space (my wife thinks I am, sometimes) and spent all my time in our mega-cities - the homes of relativism and other defunct ethical ideas - I would probably think the situation was even worse. But I'm not from outer space, although I do live in a place long forgotten by the mainstream media: flyover country.

Well, I cannot speak for every South Carolinian, but I would be willing to bet that almost all of our 3,000 daily readers would tell you that they think you've done a pretty good job.

SwampfoxNews.com readers know that any constitutionalist is going to be working against 4:1 odds. You've got to fight a President with no core beliefs, a recalcitrant Supreme Court Chief Justice, a Democrat-controlled Senate, AND the Elite Cocktail Republicans in the Senate and the House. They also know that you are one of the sharpest knives in the set. They have rejoiced that that you "get it," when it comes to things like life, liberty, property, and the pursuit of happiness. Legal eagle Greta on Fox interviews you, knowing that you will give her the legal skinny and the truth. (She also interviews Graham and McCain, but, she also knows that they will give political answers, and not necessarily the truth.)

When the kitchen has been hot, you have sweat it out. When the iron was hot, you struck. When the lemmings ran over the cliff, you stepped aside and let them jump. And when the rats started leaving the ship, you got out the D-con. We know that, at times, the Republican leadership threatened, cajoled, tried to bribe, whined, and screamed at you to get you to go along with everything you had sworn not to go along with, and that you wouldn't. You didn't play their game. You didn't play any game. They hate that.

But you have taken the lonely road - the road taken by Mendel Rivers, John West, and Jimmy Mann. The road of tough honesty and honor. Something today's Democrats could never emulate. And now, you have to make a decision.

Do you give up and let it all go to hell, or do you go back and fight? No one would ever blame you, if you did. Maybe you could even take up another fight like running against Lindsey - a battle I think a hard fighter such as you could win. There are conservative people of color in South Carolina as well as all us crackers that would love to see you run alongside Tim Scott. What a wonderful pair you two would make for us in DC!

This is a true Churchill moment for you, brother Gowdy. The great statesman of England once quoted the poet, saying,

"Every morn brought forth a noble chance
And every chance brought forth a noble knight.."

Trey, you are one of our "noble knights." Don't ever quit being one.

Defend our State which has become an island in a sea of tawdry deceit. We will be with you, whatever the cost may be. Fight on the beaches of just causes, fight on the landing grounds of truth and honor, fight in the fields of battle and in the streets of moral chaos, fight in the hills of corrupted government; and never, never surrender.
 

"NO! NEVER GIVE UP, NEVER SURRENDER!"

(October 17, 2013) The House has the right to set the amount of SPENDING, regardless of any budget or desire, or any bill passed and signed. That's what the Constitution says in Article One. The House Leadership doesn't believe that.

Now, the understandable reaction would be to stomp off, quit the GOP, and head off to start another party. But I'm just crazy enough to believe that the Republican party is an empty shell, waiting to be filled with TEA. Now, there are a lot of Turds in the Senate punch bowl, like Lindsey Graham, Charles Schumer, Harry Reid, and others. And then there are 18 REAL Conservatives. The large majority of Republicans in the House are strong TEA, while you have SOME part-time conservatives and RINOS. But almost every candidate up for election who is not strong with TEA can be primaried, and strong TEA Republicans can beat even some Entrenched Democrats.

There is no reason why we should not have Republican majorities filled with strong Conservatives. We now know that just having an R by your name is no longer enough. Conservatives and patriotic libertarians must replace the RINOs, the mugwump Republicans, and the Elite Cocktail GOPers.

"No! Never give up, never surrender!"

Of course, it is always possible that we could start a third party, there is already a good plan ready to go should we need it. But I am saying that we have reached a time when Democrats are remakably vulnerable. Polling I have seen shows that almost every Democrat in North & South Carolina and Georgia (except Atlanta) will lose, if he or she decides to run again. There is no doubt that we should learn the lesson of Mike Lee and Ted Cruz. We should listen to the echoes of Winston Churchill. But it is an irony that the most appropriate response comes from a satire of a Science Fiction program. It's from a movie with Tim Allen called Galaxy Quest. Those words are: "Never give up, never surrender."

Half of the people of America have been seduced into thinking there is a never ending supply of other people's money. This same group also has been seduced into thinking government can control health care well - ⅙ of the economy - even after they have been SHOWN what a complete screwup it is.

So as the temporary can is kicked down the road, SwampfoxNews pledges to our readers that we will bring you interviews and ideas from real conservatives and patriotic libertarians. We will never give up; we will never surrender.
 

SO MANY FALSEHOODS - SO LITTLE TIME

(October 16, 2013) The biggest lie told these past weeks - and there have been many, many lies told - is that America will default on its obligations if we don't increase the debt limit. This is simply untrue.

The American government owes interest payments on a lot of money - tens of billions of dollars. We even owe the principle on some debt which will be maturing in the coming year. But the amount of money coming in to the government coffers in Washington comes in by the hundreds of billions of dollars. What there wouldn't be any money for, should the President show some backbone, are programs that don't work.

One of those programs is the Dept of Education's Project Head Start, which not only doesn't work, but has run many private babysitting businesses out of business. Another is the monumental waste and fraud in Social Security, which has been sold to the American people for 78 years, but when examined, looks more like a ponzi scheme. Welfare and Medicaid are programs which, at one time, were noble enterprises, but which are now, a way to pay voters. And, of course, there is Obamacare, the Un-afforable Health Care Act.

If one were to return these programs to their original purposes, except for Obamacare, which is a Halloween Horror and should be repealed immediately, the money saved would be more than 1-trillion dollars. Interestingly, that amount is exactly the amount that the debt ceiling needs to rise.

Do you actually think the Democrats who have so much to lose in Face and Power, are going to do what is right? Do you? Really? I don't they know the right thing to do, anymore, frankly.

I wish the problem were more complicated that this, but it's not. And anyone who says differently is either lying or trying to sell you something.
 

DR. JIM GARROW IS NOT NUTS

(October 14, 2013) As many of you know, I'm allergic to conspiracy theories. It's not that I don't think it's possible that UFOs are real or that Roosevelt caused WWII. It's just that it doesn't matter. The real threats, like the complete possibility that one of three supervolcanoes in the western United States could obliterate most of life, west of the Mississippi, were any one of them to go off, are enough to keep me awake all night.

So, when I heard that Dr. Jim Garrow, PhD, MD, who has spent most of his adult life trying to stop non-medical abortions of baby girls in China, had made what sounded like a preposterous claim, I did not want to believe it. In fact, I'm still not sure I believe it. But I do believe it deserves to be heard. If it's true, it is an abomination and calls for immediate action. This is worse than the pollsters in Obama's pocket, making it look like the average American isn't conservative

Garrow, Breitbart, & Clancy

Garrow asserts that he has just resigned from the CIA as one of their secret operatives. That, by itself, is amazing.. but it is believable. However, what he said next is startling - that the military is weeding out "Oathtakers," military who maintain their oath to uphold the Constitution is more sacred than an oath to the President as Commander-in-chief. Only those generals, admirals, colonels, and captains who would fire on an American citizen are being allowed to stay in service. But there is more.

He swears before God that someone in the Obama administration ordered the deaths of Tom Clancy and Andrew Beitbart - that their deaths were the result of a black op - and that they were too close to certain "facts" about Barry Soetoro - the foreign student at Harvard who is now known as Barrack Hussein Obama.

Is it true? I don't know. I keep asking myself why he didn't go to an outlet like the New York Times or CBS to tell this amazing story. Or maybe he knows something about the NYT and CBS that would make him turn to a more far-out-there publication. Also, how do you prove it? If the Administration is doing what it's doing, and the CIA is doing what they're doing, how far do you think even a Congressional investigation will go? And then there's Harry Reid, who is Obama's shield against impeachment.

Dr. Garrow is not nuts. And for that reason alone, I believe this needs to be investigated. All of it. That's all I have to say on the matter and all I'm going to say until we all know more.
 

TIME FOR THE ELITES TO STEP ASIDE

(October 13, 2013) As you may already know, by now, The President has signalled that he will veto the latest cave of the Republican Leadership. The measley and weak proposal by RINO Sen. Susan Collins died a boring death in the Senate with Harry Reid not even allowing the thing to come to a vote. So much for the "Moderate" Republicans.

Yes, of course, the Democrats have lied, again, and they really are NOT interested in negotiating. And, of course, all of the sages on Fox News Channel now look stupid (there are no sages on any of the other networks, so this is not a complete put-down.) The real problem is that all of the "smart" ideas aren't all that smart, and what really wins battles and wars are wars of attrition. One would think, by now, both Yankees and Southerners would know that.

Grant won the War of the Late Unpleasantness by never giving up and never giving in. He always kicked the hell out of the South, gave no quarter, and even when the odds were not in his favor, he persisted, using his generals' gutsy ideas and his colonels' dogged fortitude.

The Democrats don't even have the moral right behind them, and can be beaten by a unified front, but the Republican Elites have insisted that they need to TAME the Conservative wing, causing division and confusion, and not just in DC.

The common woman and man in the trenches see it. We need better leadership in the House, and some new Senators as well. Here is a typical excerpt from the DISQUS blog written by a person named "Heatseeker2011."

"We need a Speaker whose first thought, when he wakes up in the morning, is "What can I do today to defeat the Left?"

Instead, Boehner's first thought is, "What can I do today to get along with Obama?"

Two points:

1. ) Every hour not spent crushing the Left is an hour wasted.
2. ) A man who fights will defeat a man who does not fight with predictable regularity.

We need a Speaker who fights, not a Speaker who congratulates himself on his impeccable manners while shamelessly caving."

While I don't agree with that sentiment, entirely, I do agree that Sens. Mike Lee and Ted Cruz said it best. When the [Republican] Elite meet and greet, "...they only want to talk about how not to lose. They don't want to talk about how to win." Something has got to be done, and soon. If I were king of the GOP - and I'm not even a member - just and occasional supporter - I would get Mitch McConnell and John Boehner in a corner and show them the instruments of torture. If that didn't do it, replace 'em.
 

GOBSMACKED!

(October 12, 2013) Since 2004, I have been preaching about the crappy quality of Republican consultants, RINOs, and the general NAÏVETÉ of the Grand Old Party. Today, I learn that my favorite Conservative Harridan (I use the word affectionately) has just published a book decrying the quality of Republican consultants, RINOs, and the general NAÏVETÉ of the Grand Old Party. Ann Coulter's new book, Never Trust a Liberal Over 3 -- Especially a Republican, gives the Cocktail Republican Elite a going-over, the likes of which they have not had since 1979.

Get it. Read it. Believe it.

I am gob-smacked. Except for the part about Mitt Romney, every single one of my ideas is in that book - and I could not be happier. It's almost like she read every single article I wrote and put exclamation marks around them. Of course, all I've ever written is just common sense so, it's not as if she were stealing. But it is very important that you buy and read her book for two reasons.

The first reason is that it will show the RINOs just how much danger they are in, and the second reason is like unto it; you will show Republican Conservatives and Libertarians that there are more of them than there are Elites.

In these days of battling polls - most of which are complete crap for all the reasons I've been preaching about since 2004 - and Elites like George Will and Dana Perino being hired to do the punditing on Fox News Channel (I watch Fox Business Channel for the truth, now), a hard shot of reality is overdue by yards. Ann's book serves it up with a heavy dose of sarcasm.

Like Rush, I don't care who gets the recognition - I do this for a hobby and to keep my reporter "creds" up. But I do care that people are singing from the same hymnal.
 

THE WAGES OF SIN MAY NOT BE DEATH, BUT IT'S A LOT LIKE STUPID

(October 10, 2013) For some time, now, I have been warning about wild market swings and the poor volume backing them. Today was almost a "super-sucker" day with the government-favored companies, who receive money from the Fed for the expressed purpose of buying stocks, kept the bubble going.

On what has to be called one of the weakest market days of the year, the Dow Jones Industrial Average jumped up over 300 points. There was no volume to speak of. All that happened is that the fairy-tale market bubble stretched even further. I'm so glad, I'm out of the stock market, although I am still buying silver and averaging. But I do have one friend, who still plays - he's a risk taker's risk taker; he sold at the end of the day, today, having bought in at the end of the day, yesterday. You know what his comment to me was this afternoon? He said, "I NEVER leave my money in more than one night, but [President] Obama's phony Fed[eral Reserve] is making me rich in paper. I got a LOTTA paper!"

How do we let this charade continue? Well, like everything else in this administration, today's fraud has nothing to do with the law or even the laws of economics. there are even people on Wall Street who think this game of printing unreal bucks and buying the market up is just dandy, since they can't think past their own daily take. There is only one solution. In 2014, don't vote for ANY Democrat or ANY RINO. Even if they are the nicest person you know, in the end, they will betray us. And that stuff needs to stop.
 

AND IT CAME TO PASS IN THE LAND OF PHAROAH

(October 9, 2013) The President just lied like a cheap whore in an afternoon "news" conference (more like a lecture). When you raise the debt limit, you're raising the amount of debt that the Country can get into. He said that was not the case, and that is a lie. He also said that it's not the place of congress to pick and choose what should and should not be funded, which, of course is a lie; but, what makes it worse is that the clown in the White House is supposed to be a Professor of Constitutional Law.

Obama is always comparing himself or being compared to Lincoln, but he's worse. And in any case, he compares himself to the wrong historically powerful figure. He is, undoubtedly the most dishonest President we have ever had. Plus, Obama CAN prioritize our way through any spending ceiling by putting off Obamacare, paying what's owed to Social Security pensioners, and there would be plenty of money to run the government and pay the interest on our debt.

WE WILL ONLY DEFAULT ON OUR DEBT IF OUR PRESIDENT SO CHOOSES! All that is happening is that we're telling the President and Democrats in the Senate that we need to live within our means - and there is a very simple way to do that. Defund Obamacare.

However, I can now officially affirm that Barack Hussein Obama is completely full of horseshit. He is such a bad Presient that even Mitt Romney's warnings are coming true. But Obama could end this situation today, yet, he WILL NOT NEGOTIATE - ONLY TALK. We have enough money to pay our debts. We won't have enough for Obamacare, so Obama will choose not to fund important things, fund Obamacare, and then blame it on Republicans. BUT THE DECISION WILL BE HIS.

To this end, I am going to quote this passage from the 47th chapter of the Book of Genesis, beginning with the 13th verse (KJV) :

13. And there was no bread in all the land; for the famine was very sore, so that the land of Egypt and all the land of Canaan fainted by reason of the famine.
14. And Joseph gathered up all the money that was found in the land of Egypt, and in the land of Canaan, for the corn which they bought: and Joseph brought the money into Pharaoh's house.

We all root for Joseph, because he is one of the fathers of Judaism and, hence, Christianity. But the tale we are told is the consolidation of an absolute monarchy for the pharoah of Egypt. It is descriptive of what is happening here in America and what Barack Obama is doing to our nation. It IS treason. And he is a traitor, gathering more and more power to himself in the name of "helping the poor and middle class."

Our money is failing. And just as the people gave up their land and their birthright to Pharoah, big businesses, big banks, big hospitals, some people are perfectly happy to give up their freedom for what is perceived to be safety, and they are dragging the little guy with them. It's not safety. It's slavery. It's a vice which will make the Presidency a monarchy.
 

SAVE THIS DOG!

(October 6, 2013) I was going to publish my tirade about Obamacare and waggle my finger and say I told you so, but something more important has come up.

As you know, we lost Daisycutter the Wonderdog at the end of June and now, the grieving process has moved on to beginning to look for another rescue Lab. We are looking all over the state and this weekend, we landed in Greenville at the Greenville County Animal Care on Furman Hall Road [(864) 467-3950] We ran across this wonderful pooch:

Honestly, I don't know if she is a purebred Great Pyrenees. But here is a picture of an older one, from the internet, after a day of work:

I'd say it was close enough. Anyway, the one we ran across is heartworm positive, but she is young (prob. 1 - 1½ yrs), very healthy, and the treatments to cure are cheaper if you go to a local vet like Foothills Animal Hospital. Anyway, she is a BIG friendly dog and would be great for a family of rambunctious children - far too big for me as she would be taller than I, standing on her hind legs. Of course, I'm only 5'7", so that's not saying much.

The saddest thing is that her time has run out and she needs a home. There is a Grt Pyr rescue group in Greenville, but they're out of dough. You don't even need to adopt the dog, but somebody needs to pay for her meds and to get her "pulled" (Keep her from being euthanized). Maybe some of my readers could pitch in.

(October 3, 2013) Now he and Harry Reid are stonewalling and closing and denying services because of it. The Republicans, who have miraculously grown a spine and submitted solution after solution to the Democrat Senate, only to be maniacally refused by an off-his-rocker Senate leader and President. Harry Reid and Chuck Schumer actually said, Wednesday, they would keep the slimdown going at the expense of children dying of cancer - no kidding (I didn't believe it myself until I heard the audio.)

For the first time in years, we are getting representation in the House and the Democrats are coming off like crazy people. Pay attention though, because the Democrats are depending on your being uninformed.
 

"MOST DESTRUCTIVE LAW SINCE RECONSTRUCTION" ALREADY SCREWED UP!

(October 2, 2013) You won't read about this in the New York Times or the Washington Post, or even The Affordable Health Care Act web site: ALMOST NOBODY SIGNED UP. Almost all of the so-called MILLIONS of people going to the web sites, there was no way to tell people how much it was going to cost. And if they DID KNOW, IT WAS TOO MUCH - much more than anyone expected.. and then there was the HUGE DEDUCTIBLES.

In South Carolina, if they did get to the web site, they either got a page with a lot of information that will be out of date in a few days, or they got this page:

Maybe in a month, when the fools who thought Obamacare was going to be so hot, find out how much they have to pay and how little it will cover, we might just have pitchforks and tar and feathers on Pennsylvania Avenue.

BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA OWNS THIS TURKEY, along with Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi. They own it, and they will go down in American history as the worst leaders, ever. The people won't even be able to say, as they said about Jimmy Carter, "..well, at least he was a good man."
 

BARRY, HARRY, DEMOS, RINOS, AND THE REAL STORY.

(October 1, 2013) So the President thinks you're pond scum - but so does every RINO in the Senate. Harry Reid thinks he's too good to have the Obamacare HIS Senate has forced on you. By not negotiating AT ALL with the Republicans and calling on the Republicans to negotiate, the Democrats and the President have proven they are not capable of any kind of leadership other than Dictatorially.

But in the end, the RINO Leadership kept reducing their offer - showing their willingness to negotiate - until they have, in effect, offered a clean continuing resolution. Even Krauthammer is certain they will cave. Even Steve Hayes and A.B. Stoddard think so, too, although Hayes thinks the Conservatives won because Obamacare is now part of the discussion. All three think "going to a conference" thing is a dodge to make it look like the House isn't caving... but they are.

Apparently RINOs ARE, along with the Senate Democrats and the President, trying to destroy the TEA party. Limbaugh, who predicted this several months ago, has nailed it, again. As the RINOS gathered to congratulate themselves on sidelining the House, the first of $6Million in ads saying that Lindsey had voted to do away with Obamacare, when everybody knows that he deliberately voted for cloture, ending the matter. He is no longer a friend to South Carolina. Our State and Americans deserve better.

A word about Fox News Channel and Karl Rove. He and Roger Ailes are best, BEST buddies. By trying to push the idea that Republicans will be responsible for a shutdown, that relationship HAS to be considered, since Rove is being paid by some very big Cocktail GOP money. Way too suspicious to be ignored. Sorry, I like both guys, but this smells.

Nevertheless, Charles Krauthammer is correct about one thing - the REAL STORY, TODAY, is that the worst piece of legislation since Reconstruction - OBAMACARE - hated by a huge majority of Americans - is rolling out, and it's not even a little bit ready to do so without exposing participants to hackers, snoopers, and government bullies, AND, logically, IT WILL NOT WORK.

BTW, I DON'T think Charles Krauthammer is a RINO. I just think his tactical ideas are wrong. The best strategic and tactical plan was best enumerated by Lt. Gen. George S. Patton, Jr.: "You hold 'em by the nose, and you kick 'em in the ass. You kick the hell out of them all the time, and you go through them like crap through a goose!"
