Peaceful Islam?
This time, it's official.
The dead Christian walking is Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani. The Rev. Mr. Nadarkhani is a convert to Christianity and refuses to recant. The Law in that land dictates that he must be killed.

But this is not the Rome of Constantine or Nero or Claudius. This is not the murder of Christians by Vikings in Scotland. This is modern-day Iran, and the law is SHARIAH Law. So, another Christian is going to be murdered by a Muslim - in the name of Allah. I say "another," because that sort of thing goes on in the Middle east and western Africa all the time.

Even if some powerful Imam grants the Pastor clemency, the fact that he had to be granted clemency in the first place shows flaws of unleavened ferocity and invincible ignorance at the root of Shariah governance.

Is this the peaceful Islam that Presidential Candidate Hillary Clinton spoke in favor of? Or are we witnessing the wickedness of false religion? I am not one to judge, but my guess is that Islam without Shariat CAN be a religion of peace. But it must be a religion without this racist, sexist, homophobic, murderous auto da fe.

Until then, were I Muslim, I would keep my mouth shut.

Herman Cain - Solver of Problems
Happy Camper time - More and more pundits seem to have discovered what we, at Swampfox News have known all along - that Herman Cain has a RECORD of saving failing systems. He knows how to cut to the chase and breathe life into pathetic institutions. And he hasn't done it once or twice, but three times!

How Is Money Created?
I can remember being a young man, fresh out of college, interviewing a very rich man, on how he rose to the top. During the speech, he explained that he had tried five or six things which had all failed, miserably, but persisted until he wound up with a success. He had made awful decisions - paid the stupid tax as Dave Ramsey would say - but it wasn't luck that brought him to success. It was persistence.

I remember another speaker I had the chance to interview. I asked him the same question. He told me, and my viewers, that he had started out with only a million dollars, which he had been given by his father. He had given his money to a good investment advisor who had treated him honestly and turned his million into 30 million. His investment advisor was the first guy.

I asked then, and continue asking today, "How is money created?" The answers I got were a lot like the answers I got on how those two guys got rich: "How do you make 30 million dollars? Well, first, you have to have a million dollars." or "Try really hard and don't give up."

But there IS, somewhere, someone who knows how money is ORIGINALLY created. WHERE does the FIRST money come from? Is it the guy who digs the gold out of the ground? Or is it like scientific first principles - it simply comes into being by chance?

Or is money bartered goods and services which, over time, are exchanged for more fungible assets like gold and silver and dependable promissory notes. This is what Adam Smith suggests in his Wealth of Nations, BkI, Ch4, when he states,"Every man thus lives by exchanging, or becomes, in some measure, a merchant, and the society itself grows to be what is properly a commercial society."

But Smith, or people who believe Smith, are the only ones who seem honest enough to admit to this "merchant" imperative, when it comes to the original creation of money. John Kenneth Galbraith, however, errs when he says that money is created by debt. Rather, money is created when debt is REPAID by the ingathering of barter for debts and services. Debt then, cannot be the creative agent, but rather, only the midwife to the creation. Until debt is repaid, it is only a piece of paper whose worth is unguaranteeable - not that people and nations have not tried to make guarantees for such.

Marx, as you know, believed money was an expression of political hegemony, not the fruits of honest labor. Mao believed that money was the root of all Western evil. Keynes, of course, believed that money was unreal. But nobody, except Smith ever explained where the FIRST MONEY comes from.

The point of this article is this: If money really originates the logical way, as expressed by Adam Smith, then the theft of it by inflation through the creation of fiat money, no matter how politically noble the excuse, is sinful to moral persons and, at the very least, unethical to the existentialist. If such inflation-theft were honest, which it most definitely would not be, it would still be a deterrent to prosperity, due to the destruction of the underlying original money, according to the inflationary laws of economics.

This is not to say that taxation WITH representation is either immoral or or unethical, but rather, the replacing of representative acknowledgement with bureaucratic quantitative easing, or outright avoidance of representative acknowledgement by monetizing debt, as the current administration has done, is.

Obama and his Chicago Hoods are stealing ORIGINAL MONEY by printing fiat money, and great will be America's fall, if he is not stopped.

Not So Much
Obama attended the Denver DEFCON1 exercise & delivered somebody else's campaign speech at a school. Nobody saw his wife or children in Denver. The Denver SWAT-Team postponed all but two practice exercises. Neither the Pope, nor any British, Canadian, or Mexican Parliamentarian showed up. Comet Elenin did align with the Sun and the Earth. So much for the conspiracy nuts.

Nevertheless, there have been reports of the ground shaking and "boom-like" explosions in many cities across the country. One even happened in Charleston. Usually these things turn out to be rolling compressions caused by one or more jets breaking the sound barrier, many miles away. I remember feeling and hearing them when I lived in Charleston, back in the 60's and 70's. It sounds like an explosion and the ground shakes like an earthquake.

The main problem remains the administration's view of the economy and their pathetic attempt to screw with the forces of nature. And that IS earth-shaking.

September 26, 2011
"Anakin, I have a bad feeling about this."
Here's a chance to pit internet rumor and conspiracy theory against actual events, using the scientific method:

According to the far-out fringe groups, on Tuesday,
    1. Obama is taking his wife and children with him to Colorado for Tuesday's DEFCON1 exercise
    2. Denver is holding special anti-terrorist SWAT team practice, Tuesday.
    3. The Congress, British, Canadian, and Mexican Parliaments, and the Pope are all taking a break.
    4. Comet Elenin will be in alignment with the Sun and Earth.

The only thing I haven't been able to find out for certain is whether Obama's kids will be with him or not. Everything else is scheduled to happen. The Fringe Folk are saying the first three events are Black Flags to hide the results of number four, which, according to a "famous Japanese" scientist ought to cause earthquakes due to interspatial resonance of some kind.

Personally, I think it's shovel-ready tauroscatology, but this will be a great time to prove it. It won't shut the Fringe Folk up - they're as bad as Keynesian True Believers - but it will allow us to turn our attention to the true problems with our economic-fascist administration.

Cain Wins! (but he's STILL not Prime Time?)
My sources at Fox have told me, and a dear friend's source at CNN have told him to tell me that the political writers are getting really uncomfortable with the fact that Herman Cain seems to be leading as most real people's pick, in spite of their (Fox's and CNN's) attempts to push Perry and/or Romney for the Republican nomination.

I can believe that about Fox; Their attempt to push Romney has been unmistakable, and he is a friend of Fox's Roger Ailes. Perry is favored by back-hand liberals who are hoping he will win, but CNN hasn't been in a Republican's pocket since they were established by Ted Turner. I'm not sure they care who wins the Republican nomination as long as it ISN'T Herman Cain. If Cain wins, CNN's entire ethos would be shattered - a man with brown skin who isn't a scum-sucking liberal - I just don't think they can handle that.

Presidential Candidate Herman Cain

You may already know that Cain won the Florida straw poll, Saturday, by big double digits in almost a majority over ALL of the other candidates combined. That's right, the man who has actually SAVED companies from economic disasters is being preferred over the pretty, picture-perfect, Colgate-toothpaste-smiling, cardboard-doll politicians, when the PEOPLE get a chance to speak. CNN and FOX would rather see the man who was handed a fortune and didn't lose it to a self-made man who owes nobody, who brought himself up from poverty, and who lived the life of a real capitalist and succeeded.

But you and I - we know. We know that Herman Cain is the most qualified. Why? Because he does what works. He is only married (politically speaking) to his morals. He attracts the best and brightest people. If he fails, he gets back up and tries something else until he succeeds. We know that Herman Cain is the most qualified man to be a real President of a United States with a real Constitution.

Union Bosses fear him. Jim Clyburn fears him. Jesse Jackson fears him. And most especially, even though he has said the opposite, Barack Obama fears him, because Herman Cain is everything he cannot and will never be. Herman Cain can achieve by his wits and his experience. He's proven it.

Look, it's not that the other Republicans are bad, it's that Cain is the right choice THIS time for THIS Presidency. And most of us know it in our hearts, as well as our minds.

Oh, Pulllleeeeeeeze..
NASA can track, with a live camera, the destructive return of the Shuttle Columbia, but they don't know where to look for a satellite the size of a bus? Really?

Congratulations to Clemson! Dabo is de man!

And then, there's..

South Carolina has 6 remarkable coaches, 11 remarkable defensive players, 9 outstanding offensive players, the Heisman-Trophy-Quality Marcus Lattimore, and.. Forrest Gump.

How can someone throw so many interceptions and still pull off just the right game-winning plays? This Gamecock season is fast becoming surreal. Or, maybe, "a box of choc'lates." Sheesh!

September 23, 2011
Bridges of Made-Up Son County
North Carolina's Bridges are just fine with maybe a dozen exceptions.
"In North Carolina alone, there are 153 structurally deficient bridges that need to be repaired", said Obama the other day, IN RALEIGH! And, of course, the rent-a-crowd cheered wildly. Turns out that there are 2,700 bridges with this federal label from the NTSB. Of course, if these bridges do not meet some really questionable Federal standard, it's called "structurally deficient."

I direct your attention to the lower left half of this page and the amendment to end bureaucracy rules which have the affect of law (appearance of being law). It is much needed and little mentioned.

September 22, 2011
Buy Yo Silver!
Silver retraced, as expected, last night to $37.10/oz., then went lower today before coming back a bit. Wall Street is still clinging to the idiot idea that there is no inflation with this continued recession. But they will soon see that it's still about 15% more expensive to live than it was six months ago, and it's hitting the people who do the most buying. We call that stagflation, folks. (Insert sarcastic observation here.) It's a great time to buy your silver! Awayyyyyyyy!

Let's Not Twist, Again..
I have liked Lou Dobbs since he worked for the "Stupid Network."

He had Harvey Eison on his Fox Business Channel last night. Eison is close to being the smartest guy in the room, when the room is on Wall Street. He echoed something many of us said, when we heard that Tim Geithner was going to do the "twist" - a swap of our own treasuries from short term to long term, not the dance made famous by the wonderful Chubby Checker - it didn't work in the 60's and it won't work now.

Now, Lanny Watkins did save Bill Clinton's bacon in the 90's by swapping treasuries from long term to short term, but that was the exact opposite of what Nixon tried to do, Carter did, and Obama wants to do. Even Keynesians know this is a stupid move.

It's almost as if this administration WANTS to destroy our economy. God, I hope not!

"..The Thing Comin' Out of the Sky.."
Sheb Wooley had it about right, except it doesn't have one just "..one long horn and one big eye.." It weighs about a ton and has a couple of eyes and four horns or antennae. Yes, another piece of space junk - this time it's a defunct satellite from a defunct NOAA project based on really bad science.

The thing was supposed to prove that global warming would occur because upper level air temps would gradually rise as the now disproven "green house effect" increased temperatures on the ground. Unfortunately, what it showed was the heat was dissipating. That unheralded discovery forced scientists, who didn't have their tenure invested in the results, to admit their conclusions were in error. Of course, the die-hards, whose college tenures were now hanging by a thread, re-wrote their theories to say that temperatures at higher levels would be COLDER, if there were global warming. But, before they were able to get real numbers from the atmosphere, the satellite died. There's a couple of new satellites up there, but I'm not believing anything these clowns say until AFTER November 6, 2012.

What is so funny about all of this, is that the path of the satellite, which will fall to earth sometime in the next 72 hours (at this writing), cannot be accurately predicted. The solar wind, you see, affects how long satellites stay up.

This presents two awkward questions:
1. Since we know that solar wind does effect the upper atmosphere, how can you predict what the upper atmospheric temperature will be, at any one given time?
    and..
2. How can you accurately predict the path or speed of any Near Earth Object?

Of course, even today's best science is only best guess, so, it seems like what we need to do, instead of trusting to this government's bad science, is to think for ourselves and keeping looking up. Happy Equinox!

Type 2 and Me
I am a 65 year old male. Last time I researched, I came to the conclusion that I was almost half French Huguenot, almost half Scots, a fortieth English, and the rest Irish (As my Grandmother use to say, "Dickie, our people were not Scots-Irish. We were either Scots or Huguenot or Irish or English, but NOT Scots-Irish.") I have just enough melanin in my skin to make me pink. I am, currently, 5' 7" tall and weigh 294 pounds. I have more teeth than space in my mouth. I am allergic to most sulfa drugs, but can tolerate sulfonamides when fashioned into Diabetes-fighting drugs. All of these facts are important because they effect the way I process foods, which is now, unfortunately, the focus of my life.

I have Type II Diabetes Miletus.

From now on, every once in a while, I'm going to write about the struggle I've been having with medical inconsistencies surrounding this disease. It's not my doctor, who is directly responsible for my being alive, today. Rather, I'll be writing about the silly - and sometimes dangerous - generalities made by so-called health officials and medical politicians about Type 2.

To begin with, not all T2 is caused by being fat. In fact, if they ever do make a definitive study of the disease, they may be surprised to discover that in many cases, getting diabetes is what causes you to be fat, rather than the other way around. If my research is correct, stress and genetics are far more prevalent as a T2 cause than clinical obesity.

This truth is a witness for me. When I got T2, back in 1979, I weighed 155lbs and had been running three miles a day for five years. By 1985, even with an incredibly strict diet (WeightWatchers), I had gained to 175. And the rest, as they say, is history. By 1990, I weighed almost 200 lbs and began taking oral medication, which worked until this year. Even the best pancreas has to give out, sometime, and mine finally gave up the ghost sometime around April. I was now 314lbs and had suffered with Diabetic Gout and a couple of other complications with allergies and ensuing pneumonia.

I'm not going to make you sit through the re-telling of everything they did to me, but, suffice it to say that, by the end of the summer, when they discovered that I needed to go on insulin, they had poked me in every place where poking is appropriate, and some places that weren't. Or as the cardiologist will tell you, the heart-catheterization doesn't hurt at all - it's the enormous bruise on your thigh, when he's finished, that makes you feel like cutting your leg off with a rusty saw.

As of now, I feel better than I've felt since 1979, and that's saying a lot. I know that my brother died at 66 with this thing, but I am determined to beat it, or at least, hold it off for a lot longer, if I can.

In the mean time, I've discovered some amazing things.

Did you know that caffeine keeps insulin from working? OK, but did you know that decaf coffee with sugar free creamer or just cream does the same thing? And did you know that green tea with caffeine has almost no negative effect on insulin function? - Here's the bad part - it may only be true for me.

What I'm learning is that there is no such thing as a generalization when it comes to micro-managing your own, specific food intake. I know a guy who eats cheeseburgers for lunch, bun-and-all, and it fits beautifully into his regimen. There is a lady in Columbia who can eat a moderate amount of fruit at night with no deleterious effect, but eating fruit in the morning will spike her sugar readings (the amount of glucose in her blood stream) for the entire day - and that's with an added insulin injection. I have to eschew almost all carbohydrates, even with taking insulin.

And I've learned one other thing, which I'll leave you with for now.. there is a lot of blood taking and injections, but with the right equipment it's a lot like any other phase of life. Everybody has to put with a little prick, now and then.

For What It's Worth
Today is Talk Like a Pirate Day......... Arrrrrrrrrrrr!

Odds that the falling satellite this week will hit a human are 1 in 3,200... or about the same odds that Obama's Jobs Plan will actually work.. speaking of which..

The new Obama Jobs Plan will cost you just about $1,500,000,000,000 in new taxes. That's NEW taxes. He thinks you're rich.. (insert soft chuckle, here)..

Insiders in DC say that the US is going to quietly bail out the EU banks.. to the tune of OVER $1,400,000,000,000.. which we will borrow from Japan and China.. whose money isn't any good, either..

And, yes, it's true, reality is better than fiction: there was a mile and a half spill of liquid manure in DC today. The joke is that nobody could get the guy to stop, and he had no idea what was happening..

"Now Who Can Argue With That?"
What a fabulous win for Clemson against Auburn! The 38-24 win was impressive from start to finish. Most impressive was an offensive line which blocked, allowing the Tigers to devour the land, defended by the Defending National Champions. Equally impressive was the Clemson defense. Their superb execution destroyed the Auburn offense in the latter 2/3rds of the game.

Make no mistake: at this point in the season, Clemson appears to be a better trained team than Carolina. But another mistake would be to underestimate the ability for Carolina to train themselves to be better.

September 16, 2011
And The Senate Progressives..
..will block every effort of the Republicans in the House to put things to rights for the state & Boeing. Of course, they'll say it's the Republicans fault, but South Carolinians and enlightened people everywhere know the Progressives are panicked and have run out of new fibs to tell, in their feeble attempt to assuage their paramour, the Unions.

September 15, 2011
Would You Mind Putting Your Neck on this Chopping Block?
How many times do we have to say it? There is a RECESSION in the SOUTH. The DEPRESSION is in the NORTH.

But don't be fooled; The poverty level is a dodge on behalf of the Union thugs to get higher wages. Four people can live on $22,000/yr in MANY places in the SOUTH. They can't have 60" TVs, or $1000 prom dresses, or $34,000 Mercedes C300's. But, LIVE? Certainly.

See, the minimum wage, assuming that a person works 40 hours a week, is slightly more than $15,000/yr. And whatever the minimum wage is, dictates what small businesses have been bullied by unions into agreeing to pay, with the formula based on the minimum wage. The higher the minimum wage, the fatter the union workers get. With the "poverty level" at $7,000 a year higher than the minimum wage, that's a fat union check increase of 47% !

Another thing; There are still people with available cash in the South. This means that more poor people in the South have jobs than people people in the NORTH. Why? Because people and businesses with available cash in the South are not arrested for giving part-time jobs to poor people who are willing to work. At least, not yet.

Northern Unions don't want to appreciate this fact. They also don't want the competition. O doesn't either.

A Little Reminder
There are tens of thousands of bad loans still out there that have been "guaranteed" by Barny Frank and Chris Dodd's Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. The total, that you and I are on the hook for, is somewhere north of $12-Trillion dollars. If things get worse, and it looks like the O's plan will make things worse, we could almost double the national debt in a matter of days.

Doubling the national debt to $26-Trillion dollars will immediately make the dollar worth half of what it will be when that happens. If it happened tomorrow, we would have to pay six bucks for a loaf of bread and seven dollars for a gallon of gas.

Why Is All of This Dangerous?
Because the $12-Trillion or $26-Trillion is nothing compared to the unfunded mandates on the state's commanded by federal programs - not the least of these is Obamacare. We are looking at somewhere between $117-Trillion and $224-Trillion. That's not counting the housing mess.

That's why all of this is dangerous. But even more dangerous is the attitude of moderates and liberals who think the United States is flush with money that can easily be parted with. That's a fantasy. People are holding onto cash, because they don't trust Barney Frank and Chris Dodd and Barack Obama's view of a socialist America, which favor the super-rich and turns the rest of us into paupers.

September 14, 2011
Yeah, Yeah, Yeah.. European Banks.. Blah, Blah..
It COULD be that some better news about European Banks pushed the market up today. Could be. But there are very quiet mouse noises that Bob Turner's victory in New York could be signalling the end of Obamanomics.

Maybe not. But we can always hope for that change.

If O gets his job bill, which kills the housing interest deduction, there will be fewer people, including Southerners, with disposable money, and there will be fewer poor people who will have jobs.

Do I HAVE To Comment?
What more can I say? Herman Cain outshone every single one of the other "debaters" on Monday night in Florida. He is the man you want to be President of the United States of America. You know he is. He may be a governmental minimalist, but he's not a minarchist. He UNDERSTANDS WHY we are the land of Free - because we use our blunt instrument - the armed forces - to scare the hell out of those who would enslave us - at least from without.

Look, ANY of the people on that stage would be preferable to Barack Obama, except, maybe, Huntsman, who is 1990 Romney Lite. (BTW, why is Huntsman even on the stage with the popular candidates?) But I'm NOT giving up on Cain.

And, YES, I REALLY DO THINK HE WILL MAKE THE BEST PRESIDENT. K?

September 13, 2011
..Salagadoola Mechicka Boola..
How many morons can dance on the head of a pin? Apparently, a lot of them. Now that Rick Perry has said what we all know - that Social Security is a "Ponzi Scheme," named after Charles Ponzi, the gentleman who re-invented the technique in 1920 - other Republicans of lesser intellect - Bachman and Romney to be specific - have jumped all over him. But they are not the only ones. The Perry-haters, for so they seem to be, by the hundreds, are blogging like crazy all over the internet, trying to redefine what a ponzi scheme is. Here's a sample, which I'll comment on, as we go along:

"...a big Ponzi scheme: collect a bunch of money from investors, then pay them from the money taken from later investors (after taking your cut). It's a great scheme that's only sustainable as long as you keep taking in more money than you pay out, but quickly becomes mathematically unsustainable...

[but] In a Ponzi scheme, the "investors" are conned into participating. In Social Security, the "investors" are forced, under penalty of law, to participate.

Is not the "force of law" the greatest "con" there is? We force people and the states to do all kinds of things which have brought us all to our lowest financial point since 1918.
In a Ponzi scheme, the "investors" only pay what they can be convinced to pay. In Social Security, the "investors" are told how much they will pay.
How much more "convincing" do you need than force majeure?
In a Ponzi scheme, the "investors" can eventually decide to cut their losses and stop paying in. In Social Security, you have to keep paying and paying and paying.
What in the heck do you think the TEA party is doing? ..and finally..
..in a Ponzi scheme, the investors can report the scam to the authorities. In Social Security, the authorities are running the operation.
What in the heck do you think the TEA party is doing?

These, by the way, are the same talking points from Romney's people AND Progressive headquarters (look of surprise and amazement).

All I can say is, "Here's your lipstick - there's your pig!" bibbidi-bobbidi-boo: Social Security is most definitely a ponzi scheme of epic proportions..

Market Stuff
Rumors of government entering the market aside, the equivolume was not on the increases. Small purchases at higher prices drove the price of stocks up at the end of trading, but the large majority of people in the market, today, were sellers, taking profits as the market moved up. This phenomenon has happened several times in the last 12 months, and people are beginning to ask questions, as the market moves sideways in ever greater lurches.

O Come Hither, and Behold
Since everybody is quoting psalms these days, here's one of my favorites - Psalm 46. It has comforted me through many "dark nights of the soul." It has never been said better than the 1928 Episcopal Prayer Book, now eschewed by its own church, except, of course, in the original Hebrew.

GOD is our hope and strength,
* a very present help in trouble.
2 Therefore will we not fear, though the earth be moved,
* and though the hills be carried into the midst of the sea;
3 Though the waters thereof rage and swell,
* and though the mountains shake at the tempest of the same.
4 There is a river, the streams whereof make glad the city of God;
* the holy place of the tabernacle of the Most Highest.
5 God is in the midst of her, therefore shall she not be removed;
* God shall help her, and that right early.
6 The nations make much ado, and the kingdoms are moved;
* but God hath showed his voice, and the earth shall melt away.
7 The Lord of hosts is with us;
* the God of Jacob is our refuge.
8 O come hither, and behold the works of the Lord,
* what destruction he hath brought upon the earth.
9 He maketh wars to cease in all the world;
* he breaketh the bow, and knappeth the spear in sunder, and burneth the chariots in the fire.
10 Be still then, and know that I am God:
* I will be exalted among the nations, and I will be exalted in the earth.
11 The Lord of hosts is with us;
* the God of Jacob is our refuge.

"When Free Men Shall Stand"
There was a time when it was enough to grow grain for bread and hunt animals for meat, gather wood and stone to build shelter and blow glass to make windows, marry faithful partners and raise sons and daughters to share in the work. On a fall night, a family might gather and celebrate the achievement of a good harvest and a successful hunting season. If possible, or when appropriate, thanksgiving to the Lord of the Harvest was expressed.

That was a simpler time. Today, we are all far too clever or far too educated or maybe just too far. Today, with our magical phones and part-time morals, we seek mutual complication to hide our individual failures. We spend our time refusing to try to guess what an improbable future might bring to try to ameliorate it, but still not plan for a more probable future which we know will eventually occur.

Today, we put our trust in man and his wondrous inventions, rather than the Creator of invention, and call ourselves brave. What religions we do have demand blind obedience, in the face of a Deity who created free will and grace, in order to build proud towers and demand human sacrifice to a God who really wants only to sacrifice for us. We worship at the font of unceasing gifts rather than acknowledge we have been given the power to do so much by ourselves. And by worshipping so, we become beggars.

Except for a very, very few, our leaders at the highest level prostitute government for personal power and aggrandizement, or to attempt an equality that can only be achieved by theft and debasement of the very people it was designed to help.

This is the tenth anniversary of the cowardly attack of militant Islamicists on unsuspecting thousands of innocent people trapped in the twin towers of downtown New York City. What we make of it both now and in the future will mark us in two ways - in the observable world and in the unseen world.

The unseen world is the world of the spirit and the heart. It is where we make ourselves into what we are. No-one sees us there, and we can be what we wish to be. It is there where we assess the bravery or cowardice of our lives, and where we determine what we need to be. Many of us will spend today there. It is a good place to be.

And when we come back from that place, hopefully, those who need to will apologize to those who have died for making our country weak and careless. And for those who are too arrogant to admit their fault - there will be another day after another Sept. 11th. It will come on November 6th of 2012.

And on that day, if there is any justice left in America, we shall be free of the intellectual cowards who now rule over us.

The Irony of a Careless Remark
I wrote this some time ago, but events overshadowed this event and it was laid aside - there is only so much room in this column and there was a lot to write about that was more important than he. In fact, after a while, I was almost ready to forget about it, when I heard a liberal commentator use the subject of this editorial against some well meaning Tea Partiers. I'm not a "member" of the Tea Party, but I understand and agree with their ideas and spirited protest.

In an effort to humiliate those in the Tea Party movement, a "Moderate" Senator, on the floor of that body, likened them to Hobbits fighting Sauron in Mordor. The imagery was cute and harmless, but it hid a biting and nasty spirit. And, as usually happens when pundits get nasty, it tells us more about themselves and the moderates they represent than they do about the people they labor so hard to humiliate.

Those familiar with the Lord of the Rings trilogy know that Hobbits were chosen to destroy the evil ring of dark power because of their love of everyday life. They were not high-minded. They were not giants or folk of great strength. Their greatest love was a good smoke, good ham bacon, and a great jug of beer. They were, in fact, the plain folk of Middle Earth.

Without meaning to, the "witty" remark stained those who agreed with the Senator forever and marked them as ignorant before the nation. For, in fact, the Tea Party is filled with plain, honest, everyday folk - people who are sick of being ravaged everyday by the "sensible" Moderates, not to mention the Liberals and their running dog, Progressives. They strive everyday trying to make it - living to make a wife happy or a husband glad. Living to raise a child or just make their world better. Hoping to marry that girl or have enough money at the end to buy that bass boat and fish in the twilight of their lives.

Yeah, they're funny aren't they. Just trying to make a living while Moderates by their fear and Liberals with their lies give aid to the most destructive congress in the history of America - all in the name of "doing SOMETHING." The Lord of the Rings is a perfect analogy.

And there is a wind coming from Middle Earth, the heartland of America, again, and it will upset all those who think they can mess with the primal forces of nature - those who think Government is the answer.

But Hobbits are not violent like Progressive Union thugs. Frodo, would not even give them the finger - but he couldn't anyway. He lost it, battling with the golum.

Another Day, Another Fib
"It's the hottest summer on record," according to the Federally funded US Weather Service in Texas. If you'll remember, we warned you, two years ago, that this would happen. Official thermometers were moved from the cooler fields to near tarmacs at airports around the country - and especially in Texas.

Now, it HAS been almost as warm as it was in the late forties and early fifties. But we haven't had such a severe la niña since the late forties and early fifties.

But, so what if it does warm up? Remember that it was so warm in ancient Greece, that the citizens of Athens could gather at Dionysia in January and watch plays ALL DAY LONG, and the world DID NOT COME TO AN END. Some archeometeorologists believe that it was warmer than the middle ages warming period, maybe as much as 10° fahrenheit warmer, on average, than it is today. For what it's worth, many of those scientists have been under attack from non-meteorology scientists funded, in part, by our taxes, threatening their positions at universities and institutions.

And the Job Speech?
It WAS a Trillion Dollar stump speech. Bill O'Reilly gave more details in his discussion than the O did in his speech. And as the fog closed in around DC last night, the speech before the Congress was ironically similar. Even the Progressive cheers seemed tired at the "neener-neenering" from the bully's pulpit. And he's going to tell us more in two weeks?

One other thing. I've already had emails asking me if I think the alarm bells being rung about a possible 9/11 threat are a little too convenient. Maybe - it's either just Obamaluck or a complete lie.

The Debate
Herman Cain still presented himself the best, even through the overt bigotry of MSNBC. This is not to say that Perry did not effectively answer his questions. Ron Paul was good, but his foreign policy is dragging him down. The others were just OK.

And what a bunch of smirking, sanctimonious, ill-informed, prurient snots on the MSNBC panel! Some of their comments were even racist. They did, however, remind me why they are the hind-end of the broadcast horse. Then again, that area is well-populated, anyway. Nevertheless, Cain acquitted himself well in his joust with them.

Tonight's Administration Job Speech
No speech will do any good to help create jobs. Our economy will not expand until people have a president they can trust. Our economy will not expand until ALL citizens pay taxes - and are taxed fairly. Our economy will not expand until the government spends no more than it takes in. It really is just that simple.

Don't Be Fooled.
No matter what is said by ANYBODY, government cannot solve any of these economic woes. I know we all WANT there to be an answer that doesn't involve pain, but the people in power cannot stay in power if they admit that they helped cause the pain and back off.

Government, like the armed forces, is a blunt instrument. It does everything inefficiently. It has no choice about the matter. Imagining that government can do anything with precision is a Victorian wet dream of Keynesian foolishness. The only thing the current government can do is postpone the pain to a later time. THAT'S ALL IT CAN DO.

So, When you hear Barack Obama promise you that his plan of fiscal rejuvenation will work, remember, there is a very good pre-game show on another channel and flee to the sanity of high collision sports.

..or, You Can Go With That..
If you're trying to catch bream, you can fish with inexpensive worms or crickets you catch yourself.

If you're trying to catch crabs, you use a net, a fish head, and a nail on a string.

If you're going after stripers, you need a bass-boat.

If you're going after swordfish, you need a well-made trawler or a deep-sea fishing boat and expensive, heavy-duty fishing reels.

Logically, then, if you're fishing for Big Fish, you need sophisticated, expensive devices. If you're going after bream, you can afford to spend but little.

Moral: Shut up about Nikki Haley.

She is no different from any other leader of an entourage, trying to influence big, European businesses to make a home in our state. Her European business "fishing-trip" cost less than some fat-cat, ugly daughter's wedding. And it may actually have a positive ending for the state.

If NOAA Info Had a CarFax..
I should like to point out that NOAA had to really stretch to get the gulf tropical wave to tropical storm status. It's back to the strength of a tropical wave and moving in TWO (that's 2) directions - counterclockwise and clockwise - at the same time. At this writing, it's a weather pattern beyond "cyclone shearing." Take a good look at the animated GOES East Satellite on this page. This is typical of many Gulf storms of the mid-1950's.

So, was it ever a tropical storm? Maybe. Then again, what are they trying to prove? It's almost like they're still smarting from their pathetic flub with Irene. And while we're at it, the flooding is NOT the worst in history of New England. There have been nor'easters which have caused worse.. But, with the current administration, who can trust anything said by anybody who works for those people, let alone their stenographers in the media?

Now, NOAA HAS said something that is true: Even mild wind-storms can spin off tornadoes, and if our friends in the Gulf States are careless, they could also wind up a statistic. Both sides of this divided storm front could even come here. And, to their credit, they have taken seriously Joe Bastardi's warning about Katia, which has changed direction and circulation speed about five times over eighteen hours.

So be alert and check out our up-to-the-minute animated weather maps. Thousands do.

Congratulations!
..to JERRY GARCIA's long-lost nephew, Steven. There is no doubt in ANYONE'S mind that he took a team that looked DEAD and twanged it back into life - for which we are all GRATEFUL.

2005 YU55
The last thing I want to start is some kind of End-of-the-World conspiracy plot.

However, I am concerned about the orbit of "2005-YU55," a Near Earth Object I wrote about, a few weeks ago - a smallish asteroid.

Asteroid 2005-YU55

You can find it listed on the front page of Spaceweather.com, under "N.E.O.'s" (there IS an "app" for that). The asteroid is about the size of three and a half football fields, side-by-side. Were it to hit the Earth, even a glancing blow, it would cause destruction, up to a 250 mile radius. Not total devastation, mind you, but enough destruction to cause real local problems, including plenty of deaths.

If you have been following this column for a while, you know that I believe all science - even established, peer-reviewed science - is always a "best guess." Now, we have some very good astronomical guessers, but we still don't know everything there is to know about gravity, or even extra-orbital anomaly influencers. We still are not absolutely sure that this rock will get closer than we think it will - 202,000 miles from Earth (.00103963 AU's) - closer than the moon.

Will it hit the moon? Will it be, or has it already been, pushed one way or the other by the solar wind, or space debris - natural or man-made - and hit the Earth? Who can say? We do know that it will pass between the Earth and the Moon almost on the syzygy's ecliptic. Or at least that's what the last published computerized fix said, but, that was computed all the way back on April 5th. You'd think they'd do daily fixes since it's coming so close.

Left alone, the whole mess might be forgettable - just another guess, and probably worng. But now, there is word that FEMA will be "borrowing" all broadcast channels for three minutes on November 9th. FEMA's web page says they announced this "test" back in June, and that it will happen at 2pm on November 9th. That's about the same time that, 2005-YU55 should be passing the Earth. Hmmmmm..

Is this just another incredible coincidence, like the President asking to speak before Congress at the same time the Republicans are debating on-air? Or is this the same kind of coincidence like the NLRB hearing about Boeing AFTER the plane-maker's buildings have been constructed?

All of this is probably innocent enough, but it certainly doesn't help the everyday guy and gal trust the government any better. I mean, nobody is born a conspiracy theorist. Besides, what is that HAARP thing, anyway?
