(The Swamp) - It's the end of the year and everybody is talking about the events
and missteps which occurred. Well, this is a list of the Bad, the Ugly, and Good.
The Bad:
- Obama kissing up and appologizing to countries who do not have our best interest formost
in their policies.
- Obama and the Progressives killing the massively successful voucher program in DC as a sop to the teachers' union
- who cares about students in poverty getting a chance at excellence, anyway, right?
- Lockerbie murderer, Megrahi, let go by the socialist Scots government - Obama says it's only "a mistake."
- Blue Dogs sold out with Cap and Trade and Health Care.
- Cap and Trade. We all gotta pay taxes and higher prices so Al Gore can make even more money from his cap and trade exchange company???
- Obama and the Progressives cynically courting the fascist elements within big business - of course big business, being economic fascist organizations themselves, can adapt to national socialism/fascism -they did it during the Italian and German Fascist regimes.
- Nancy Pelosi. 'Nuff said.
- National Progressives, in general, but especially for trying to force the unconstitutional, Marxist ho, José Manuel Zelaya Rosales, back onto the people of Honduras.
- The stupid health bill. Oh, health care in America, in order to insure it remains the best in the world, needs changing. We need "loser pays" in ALL lawsuits, "user pays" in Medicare with the government reimbursing the patient - NOT the doctor or pharmacy or hospital, elimination of Medicaid except for extreme verifiable circumstances, elimination of non-catastrophic insurance coverage, eliminate all federal oversight of drug companies with the exception of drug purity approval. We don't need the Progressive fascist monstrosity we've wound up with.
- The Episcopal Church - All the way in the tank for LGBT agenda. Nowhere in their new "discovery of the Holy Spirit" did they acknowledge any of the new research which appears to give weight to the scientific evidence that anal sex is almost universally destructive - simultaneously chasing away gays who refuse to participate in buggery.
- Biased Bad Reporting - A sister story - the hundreds of thousands of patients showing up at local emergency rooms due to rectal disrepair are not being reported by any national outlet.
- Cowardice of Football conferences to take the pads and helmets away from football. Football used to be a game played between teams of men. Injuries used to be clean and death rare. Players protected their heads and limbs because they WEREN'T covered. These days, it's a game of padded, setting ducks, colliding and hoping not to be terminally injured every single play. And would SOMEBODY decide what offensive holding and defensive interference is, please?
The Ugly:
- Manmade Global Warming Hoax. The discovery that not only were the Chinese and Russian numbers suspect, but NASA's numbers were political. We already knew, as far back as 1992, that NOAA's data gathering was flawed - their info coming from airport runways and some sensors not working at all. But THEN, we learned that the major gatherers of international data at East Anglia University (England), were just plain lying when their numbers didn't match their theories. The whole process and argument gives bad marks to science and disgraces those who call themselves "scientists." There may be a global warming cycle underway, but how can we honestly tell?
- College Football Referees. Every single conference has one or two who consistently show their partisanship or downright poor ability. Not all are bad, and some are actually good at it. But the ugly truth is that, if the poor ref has a strong enough personality, they can influence and entire game's outcome. Uglier, still, is the inability of a conference to scold and interdict such nasty people.
- Glenn Beck Crying. It'd be great to believe that his emotion is genuine. It just makes a body
nervous as hell. It's like your crazy aunt who sits in the corner at Thanksgiving Dinner,
mumbling to herself that she and Chaucer would have done things differently, if only the
nazis hadn't joined the forces of the Yankees after Gettysburg. A lot of what he says is
accurate - even important - but the crying thing is just way too much.
- The B.C.S. system. It is entirely possible that we have already seen the numbers one
and two teams play this year when Alabama beat Florida. If Alabama beats Texas by anything
resembling a decent margin (10 points will do), then the perennial ugliness of the BCS will, once again,
be evident.
The Good:
- Jim DeMint. By continually taking the lead in forcing conservative issues in the Senate, he showed up the lie that was the Progressives' definition of "bi-partisan."
- Lindsey Graham's rediscovering that Progressives will screw him over regardless of what they promise.
- A big plus for your local news. Except for some weekend anchors, almost all local newscasters resisted the urge to gush over the misguided programs of the current administration as their national news outlets did.
- Rep. Joe Wilson was right - even the shout out. Rude? Heck yeah! So was MLK, on occasion. They were both right, too!
- The Drama Programs at USC Aiken, Upstate, and Columbia (including Union). The professors in these excellent programs are as good as any in the United States. The Masters of Fine Arts Program at Columbia is a thing of beauty! (Yes, I AM biased.)
- ESPN's dedication to broadcasting dog competitions - when it comes to excitement and humor, nothing is more entertaining than the Jack Russell Races!
- Jenny Sanford.
- Finally, Daisycutter the Wonderdog. Daisy is a flat-coated black Labrador Retriever. Unlike many modern, female, black Labs, she has a very broad head, similar to the water dogs of the 13th Century Spanish worker dogs (or "perros labradores"). She is the sweetest natured, kindest, smartest dog ever. The only people she does not take to is anyone wearing gang "colors" - DO NOT wear a red & white bandana around her, if you want to keep your pants - she has proven her mettle with would-be crooks. Some time, this next year, it's hoped that there will be time to write some stories about her which will appear here. That, of course, depends on how stupid government continues to be.
Happy New Year! Woo-Hoo! Don't forget to vote November 2nd!!!
