(The Swamp) - When children on the playground set about to bully other children,
they have to develop about them an aura of invincibility. Usually, the kid who has identity
issues gathers around him (or her) kids of similar ilk, whom he can control. The followers
do much of the actual bullying, leaving the "tough" deals to the prime bully. With gestures
and gradiose threats, the bully tries to reduce his victims to quivering masses of Smuckers.
Only when the bully with his gang is faced down by enough numbers can justice be dealt,
usually with an act of forthrightness - sometimes with a good clean sock in the face.
Bullying is the essence of what the so-called tea-baggers are experiencing at the hands
of the Obamanuts. Would that it were more complex, more nuanced, more adult in color
and patina. But it's not.
The great surprise is that common everyday Americans are gathering together in small
and large meetings to fight those who wish to control them by means of conceit and public
theft.
The bullies have always won, until now.
They've derided, mocked, name-called, cat-called, jested at, jabbed at, misnamed and
misconstrued just about every one and every thing that gets in their way or challenges them.
The bully's gang have names like Pelosi, Frank, Reid, you know them. The bullied are
teachers and doctors, maids and mothers, workers and thinkers - practically everyone and
anyone who makes a living in this country. They are making it as plain as day that if you disagree with them,
there will be hell to pay. They will see to it that you are hounded by their media or
worse, some union thug will bock your way or punch your face.
If you're on the verge of saying that this description is far-fetched, then you are not
paying attention. Every single circumstance described above HAS already happened.
A word of warning: If you own an ACER Aspire without a disc drive, get one. If you're
thinking about getting one of those cute little things, add-in the price of an external cd/dvd
writer/player. Your humble editor has just spent an entire week doing exactly what
the company said and it still crashed. Needed another computer and an external drive.
Why?
Seems You can't erase the font file "gulim.ttc." If you do, the attempt triggers a SYSTEM
file erasure : c0000218, to be exact. That keeps your computer from booting back up.
Don't bother calling the CIA or the FBI. Already tried that. They seemed uninterested.
The CIA is too busy with their own civil war. The FBI is a puzzle on most days, anyway.
Guarantee you one thing, though. The Japanese company that owns the ACER brand name may not
actually be Japanese. Seems most of the company decisions are made in Hong Kong. In
any case, it's made in China, too.
Now, what do you think would happen, if some industrious SOB decided to broadcast an
erase command for "gulim.ttc?" Well, IF they got through to any computer with that
font family, it would take at least a day to bring the computer back on line.. and that's ONLY
if there were another computer to help you fix yours. What if it happened as a pre-curser
to war or a terrorist attack? No? How many of us, on September 10, 2001, thought that
anybody would fly a jet into a skyscraper, a day later?
Have you noticed that our kids have started pronouncing their "a"s as if they were "i"s
or double e? It's "AMEEEZING" now, instead of "AMAYZING." Is this the new
Valley-Speak?
Oh well.. as Annie Hall said, "Lahdee dah, lahdee dah, lahdee dah, oh boy, lah lah.."
