GETTING OFF THE GRID
(Completely - and why we NEED to..)

(e-Palmetto State) - In the Sixties, hippies headed for collective farms, rejecting commercialism, responsibility, denying the Vietnam War, and embracing romanticism. In the 70's, the most popular TV shows were about rejecting the world by hitting the road and leaving responsibility behind. The 80's personified patriotism, individual responsibility, and a return to civil discourse and capitalism. But the 90's were all about accepting the fact that it was OK to lie about sex and pretty much anything that would expose you to any kind of personal responsibility. The first decade of the 21st Century has been all about the battle between accepting and rejecting responsibility.

But there is an imperative which people who believe in individual responsibility are going to have to consider. Oddly, it involves getting completely off the grid in order to actualize personal responsibility.

By "grid" I mean anything that will cause you to be beholden to the current government in any way. And it requires a certain amount of stick-to-it-iveness.

  1. ELECTRICITY - Generate your own electricity. Solar panels are OK, but natural gas generators are quiet, efficient, and inexpensive to run, if you amortize the generator over five years. The government will find it very hard to regulate natural gas for at least the next ten years or so. They don't know how, yet. And, frankly, the oil and gas companies are rich enough to hold off the government for that long. If you stay on the electric company's grid - and for most of us, that's SCE&G or Duke - whether the power company wants it or not, the government will begin to tell you when and how much electricity you can use. They have already SAID they want to do this.
  2. DO NOT CALL THE POLICE except for extreme circumstances, and then, only if absolutely necessary. Form neighborhood protection societies, if you must, and arm yourself. The police will become - if they have not already - enemies of the Second Amendment. For some time, now, many police departments have been proponents of extreme gun control as they discover the power that comes with being the only kid on the block with a sling-shot. We have already discussed that they cannot protect the citizenry. Soon, or even now, they have or are becoming agents of our helplessness. African-Americans have known this for many years...
  3. VOTE for people who want to dismantle government so that no one person, ever again, has as much power as the Progressives now in Washington. This is, admittedly, counter- intuitive. But if we play by their rules, we don't have to tell people who we are or where we live in order to vote. Look at how ACORN operates. It's not constitutional, but it's their rules.
  4. Use internet MASKING software that hides your IP address, so that the government cannot track your internet address. Cable has already been coopted by the FCC which allows them to deliver crappy service for outrageous prices. Also, harden your hardware by putting lead shielding around the important parts and use double-encrypted wireless. Verizon is good, Alltel is better, and they'll be running separate companies for a while longer. This all sounds hard, but it's not. It just takes time.
  5. Take all your political BUMPER STICKERS OFF your car. You are a sitting duck for some nosy neighbor who WILL report you to Obama's Junkers just because. This administration has already been caught issuing "snoop" orders - which were rescinded when they were found out. My sources say it doesn't matter, the junkers have been alerted.
  6. Ancillary to this is, if someone comes to your door extolling the virtues of Barack Obama, AGREE WITH THEM. Don't join anything, just make them think you'll support their ideas and send them away happy. This way, you don't get on their bad list or any other list. This is the way the junkers started, but they can be abrogated at the ballot box.
  7. COLLECT and dispose of your own water. They even have do it yourself kits! Not only do you get below the radar and fertilize your yard and garden, but you can litterally save thousands of dollars. If you live in one of those socialist cities with politicians who are using the position to gain power to move up, it may already be too late. They may use the phony "health" argument and keep you from digging your own well (another good reason to get out of that city), but rainwater collection in South Carolina is a viable alternative - especially now that the drought cycle has finished for a while.
  8. EDUCATE your children yourself. If this is not viable, teach them to agree with everything their socialist teachers tell them and then RETEACH them at home. Most of our children are getting a Marxist view of history, a Luddite view of grammar, and an 18th century view of mathematics, which, to say the least, is silly. But your children are also being indoctrinated with the principle of safety over freedom, and that's dangerous.
  9. And this is the hardest - get 20% of your capital into SILVER and find a place to put it where NOBODY can find it. If things get really bad, specie will be king and paper will be worthless for a time. Silver is best for every day usage, gold could be used for large item purchases.
The reason for following this imperative is self evident - we, who believe in genuine freedom, need to survive until November 2010. Economic Fascism can only work when a government will do anything to make it work. As we already know, the US is already bankrupt, as are the rest of the countries in the world, and only our might keeps us from being overrun by our debtees.

Following this imperative will have two salutary effects:

  1. You will get as far under the radar as a person can which will confuse and confound your political foes.
  2. If everybody who can, does this, there will be no need to "upgrade" the power grid. Edison's original idea, which was his best, was for people to have PRIVATE sources of power, not this ridiculous spaghetti jumble that fails with every weather event.
And one more thing: Mark ALL OF 2010 on your calendar. Work like hell to end this socialist horror that is blighting our land. Work quietly and vigorously, so that we will never have to live on any grid, ever again.

This isn't paranoid or even being a hippie. This is about freedom. This is about being a patriot.
