(Lexington County) - First of all, this editorial is not about beating up on
the Sheriff of Lexington County. From what I know of James Metts, he runs a
pretty good ship and catches the crooks. This article is about the benefits of firearm
possession.
Recently, according to WIS-TV in Columbia, Bob Hartley discovered that a certain
Ruben Silva-Aguilar, a 19 year old who favors Keanu Reeves, was removing Hartley's
possessions from his Lexington County home. Trying to stop him, barehanded, won
Bob a knife-wound in the arm. Not to be outdone, Hartley, arm-wound and all, picked
up Silva-Aguilar, tossed him into the swimming pool, ran to the cabinet, got his rifle,
and called 911, while making the miscreant stand in the chilly waters.
The officers arrive and did what they do best - arrested the crook and started
checking to see if he was here illegally.
We all know that crooks are stupid, especially crooks who try to take on guys who
are much bigger than they. Especially crooks who rob houses protected by big
dogs - and I don't mean our furry friends with fangs. I mean the big dog that barks
over here and bites over there.
Here, again, is another excellent example of another major crime being prevented
by common sense. The dumb crook might have run away to victimize someone weaker.
Thanks to Hartley's bravery, quick thinking, and firearm, Seņor Silva-Aguilar will
either be sent back to the collapsing horror that is Mexico or spend some well-earned
down-time in one of this state's finer hell-holes.
Now what would have happened, if Hartley had given up his gun for a rose as was
attempted over Valentine's Day by the Liberals who want to make everyone as victimized
as they? One thing that would have happened would be that Seņor Silva-Aguilar
would be robbing someone else in the Palmetto State - maybe killing them, the next
time. This is evidence that not only do you need guns in order to be responsible
for yourself, you also need to pick up the gun first. A hand gun is the ultimate equalizer.
It says, "I, the owner, am responsible for myself and myself alone." No wonder
liberals don't like them.
All I'm saying is that maybe your daughter or dad or son or mom will be alive tomorrow
because Bob Hartley did not trade his gun for a rose.
