The Two Americas!
(Yes, The Original Two, not Edwards' Two)
December 1, 2008
(SOUTH CAROLINA) - A bum and
and a farmer walk into a bar. The bum says,"Lemme buy you a drink."
The farmer says, "Fine,
as long as you use your money."
The bum says, "Never mind!"
This ancient, dreadful joke
is right on the money when it comes to our economically divided country.
If you live in the North, or any place where they worship unions, your economy
stinks. If you live in the South, or any place where unions are recognized as
being the detriment they are, the economy is not bad at all. We have said all this
before. Recently.
What's new is that a group of dummies, who have been wrong more times than
an ESPN football color announcer, said we've been in a recession for six months.
The National Bureau of Economic Research are the dummies. They have no idea.
And if they do, they're not telling the truth.
Recently, a Russian economist said that America will split into five different
areas within 25 years. That's interesting, because it would certainly allow them
to become more powerful. But he may be on to something.
Back in the 1840's the northern industrialists manipulated politics while the Whigs
stood by and let them. The Progressives too. The rich Southern states wound up
paying for their greed and political manipulation. When they reacted, the northern
industrialists made it impossible for the Whigs to keep going and they went out
of business. The Republicans created themselves and the rest is history.
It's happening, again.
The NBER is just a reflection of northern rust-belt unions and their hapless
puppets in government. But there are many conservatives who live where the
sun DOES shine, who are tired of picking up the bill for people who don't put
anything back.
The vital and vibrant South is still filled with prosperous people who want to see
the "great experiment" work. But it will not always be so. And if the morons
on wall street and their silly companions in the media continue with their chicken
little outlook, things could get much worse where things are good, right now.
This is a warning. That's all it can be. For now.
