(America) - I have just learned that strong safety, Emanuel Cook, was arrested late last night on a Columbia gun possession charge, and Carolina suspended the sophomore football player in accordance with their "athletes as thugs" rule. According to the police report, Cook, 19, was arrested with another student after campus police saw them with a handgun.

The University, as a private corporation, has - even though funded publicly - a right to restrict anything they want within reason. They can kick out anybody they want for any reason. My beef is not with them.

No, I'm upset because we are such sissies! Afraid of a pistol, as if the gun, itself, were evil.

And I do sincerely hope that some day, someone with a very large fortune will sue the pants off of every city in this state and the State, itself, on Second Amendment grounds. Gun restriction on public property is immoral. It confirms power to the strong and takes it away from the weak.

I am getting a carry permit to protect myself when I walk the streets of Columbia because of the gang crime there which the city seems incapable of doing anything about. And it grates on my soul that I have to have that permit. But it's not just Columbia. It's Greenville and Charleston etc., etc. The point is, that if a public governance institution could actually protect their citizens from crime, they might have a point. But they can't and don't. And morally, they and every city in this state are liable for every murdered and raped and robbed victim because of their gun restriction laws. Every single one.

Only a lazy coward would want someone else to protect him from harm, in any case. Look at those people in Minnesota. If just one of them had possessed a gun or at least was not afraid to use a weapon, that woman in the hall would not have been raped.

And where WERE the cops? Not THERE. But they're not supposed to be. Besides, self-defense is a right and the police can NOT protect us. They're pretty good at catching the crooks, but we would go bankrupt if we had enough cops to really PROTECT us. Let me repeat that - The cops are great at catching crooks, not preventing crime. And no other branch of public service is even close. Do you really think the government can do anything right except break things and kill people? Government can't even build a decent road anymore!

But trust me, our government, except for a few individuals, does not care. They think they know better, when it comes to guns. And we will pay for their stupidity. We will pay with our lives.
