(PRNewsChannel) / Newport Beach, CA. - The link between synthetic hormone replacement therapies and breast cancer is undeniable, additional proof comes from new study published in the August issue of Journal of the National Cancer Institute.
“It reaffirms that there is a link between breast cancer and synthetic hormone replacement therapy,” says Dr. Whitaker, founder of the Whitaker Wellness Institute and the Freedom of Health Foundation in Newport Beach, CA.
The researchers at Kaiser Permanente Northwest reviewed the medical histories of more than 7,000 women treated at their own medical facility between 1980 and 2006 who had invasive breast cancer.
The study found that from the early 1980s to the early 1990s, when doctors prescribed synthetic HRTs with regularity, breast cancer rates rose 26 percent. But from 2003-2006, when studies began showing a possible link between the drugs and breast cancer and doctors stopped prescribing them, breast cancer rates dropped by 18 percent.
“'With the rapid deflation in the use of synthetic HRT, the breast cancer rates substantially dropped,' says Dr. Whitaker.
"A recent British study showed of 1,000,000 British women with aggressive breast cancer, 10,000 of them had been on a synthetic HRT medication.
“'That’s 10 percent,” says Dr. Whitaker, 'that is scary.'
