        First of all, she's sharp as a tack. Almost every lady I take the time to know is sharp, but Laura Bush makes Hilary Clinton LOOK like Hilary Clinton. No denials, no backpeddling, on message, and says exactly what she means. If you've ever listened to the President's wife speak more than one time, you will find that she has no reason to backtrack or fishtail. This comes from consistently telling nothing but the truth - so help her God.

        Second, she is extremely intelligent. Unlike other female public figures, however, she does not have to show her intellect in order to be understood as smart. This may come from her experience as a school marm, but wherever it comes from, it's very refreshing, especially in a town of people who are BENT on impressing the hell out of you.

        Third, she's cute. That little slant-eyed thing she's got going on just gets me gooey all over. She is attractive in so many ways that most females in DC are not that the rest of them could walk nekkid in front of me and I would choose Laura Bush in an overcoat. She's not quite as pretty as my wife, but she's a close second. Then comes Patty Ann Brown.

        Fourth, she is a wonderful support for W. People make fun of the President because of his "Bushisms." It's only fair and they're fairly funny. They make you remember what he's said much better than the drone of the political idealogues. But her class, her style, and her bearing tell everybody there that, while W may be funny, he's also dead serious about his ideas, morals and character. In a way, it's almost Roman in the way she presesnts herself, and people who know about the real Rome of old, know that women ran everything through their husbands. I suspect that Laura doesn't run the US, but everything else in W's life IS run by her. Shoot me if I'm wrong Mr. Vice President, but I think W will agree with me.

        Why am I writing about this on a day when the President is talking about the border and the pathetic illegals swarming to the land of real opportunity?

        Because, this is more important than that. Laura Bush is a true American statesman. She is a wonder to observe in action. And she is the kind of person it takes to make the kind of person W is do the right thing.

        What is the answer to a lot of our problems? More people like Laura Bush.
