LOVE AND DEATH
And in the End: Woody Allen's movie as a paradigm. Or.. a paranickels.

March 24, 2005 - 02:40 (Z-05h)

I'm leaving this up for another day. Now that I've heard and seen even more evidence that Terri is alive, it makes even more sense. I did change the prayer, though. So if you haven't read it, here it is. If you have read it, you can read it again. At least it won't kill you

"Me? Jejuene? I'm not in the least jejeune. I'm the most jeune person I know." - Love & Death, dir. by Woody Allen.
Old Nahamkin is younger than Young Nahamkin. Nobody knows why, but he is. Natasha bakes snow and treats Boris with a dessert of sleet. Boris is promised by God, in a vision, that he will not be executed for trying to kill the man who was supposed to take over as Napoleon's double and get killed. He gets executed, anyway. They talk of wheat. Boris dances off with Death to Prokofiev's "Lt. Kidje's Sleighride." It makes no sense at all which is Allen's point about life. And we laugh.

Terri Schiavo isn't brain dead, that is, she wasn't brain dead, but may be now because of dehydration. The courts are busily defending the courts because if it weren't for the courts, who would protect them? Our rights have been stained. Our constitution remains pure. Doctors with political clout are all breathing easier now that they have testified to keep their political clout. The Florida Judge-Politico love fest is stronger than ever, although challenged from time to time by those nasty religious types. True facts are ignored. Real doctors are ignored. Ignoring is ignored. So Terri gets killed by the system that's supposed to save her. In a later scene, we see Terri, now dead, dancing off with Death to Badfinger's "Come and Get It." It makes no sense at all, which is the point of judicial life in Florida. It's not about justice - it's about winning. And we cry.

            I make only this observation:

My speechifying persona says: Any law which does injustice to the just does not deserve to exist.

My soul in silence waiting upon the Lord is forced to say: No secular principle is worth the life of one sentient being. We have surely and truly lost our way. May the Almighty have mercy on our souls.

"And, in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make."
